Today we’d like to introduce you to Anais Ohresser.
Hi Anais, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in a small village in south France, and then moved to New York in 2010, when I was 21 years old working in the wine industry, traveling around the US and learning a new culture. Few years later, I met the film director Lesly Lynch who introduced me to the film industry, sensing the passion in a new world of artists opening to me. I volunteered and worked on weekend and vacations on music videos and short films.
Still working in the Wine Industry, I am offered a job in Los Angeles to work as General Sales Manager for a wine importer. I started traveling between Los Angeles and New York and finally moved to Los Angeles in early 2020.
Few months after, Lesly and I started our creative studio and production company called Space Cowboys LLC. Excited by the idea of creating opportunities for diverse voices in the film industry, we started building a community of like-minded people with shared values and surrounded ourselves with very talented art directors, film directors, producers, creative assistants, designers and more. A wonderful experience bringing people together and creating projects despite the challenges of the epidemic.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In time of isolation like we were facing for the first year of the company’s creation, it was a challenge to meet and create. And so, we spent hours and hours on zoom, meeting people through the screen. But as soon as the vaccines were accessible, we were able to organize some shoots again and meet potential clients in person. The covid safety requirements make shoots production more complicated and budget must be allocated. But it’s doable and I am always so thrilled by the excitement of the shoots and assembling awesome teams and face these challenges together.
We’ve been impressed with Space Cowboys, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Space Cowboys is an international women-driven creative studio and full-service production collective based in NY, LA & Paris. We celebrate Queer, BIPOC, multicultural creatives through art and film pursuing visual excellence in an inclusive and disruptive way.
We believe in the importance of bringing more diversity in front and behind the camera to represent the world in all his aspect, shapes and colors.
Our core team have varied backgrounds working at advertising and media agencies. And we are ready to make visually stunning pieces that go above and beyond the clients’ expectations with our talented international network of filmmakers.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Make sure to know why you are doing this and plan to keep your entity authentic and find the right partners that will help you bring this vision to life.
