Inspiring Conversations with LeSwim

Today we’d like to introduce you to LeSwim .

Hi LeSwim, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I founded LeSwim, as my vision of modern luxury resort-style. I’m very grateful for the recognition the collection has received by Vogue, W, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, and many other publications. The second-skin reversible swimwear is made in Italy, comprised of one-pieces and interchangeable separates made of ultra-soft UPF50 fabric that retains its elasticity and resists fading. The aesthetic is modern minimalism, with a focus on a superb smooth fit. The resort wear is a city-ready group of must-have warm-weather pieces designed with the vacation lifestyle in mind. The looks can breeze from the beach to a café, to a town, without pause. The resort wear is manufactured in the US, with high-quality fabrics I have sourced from places like Japan and France.

With LeSwim, I want to offer timeless, core pieces, which never feel dated or over-styled. Supporting sustainability and conscious production, the swimwear has been made by women-owned artisanal laboratories in Italy since its inception seven years ago. The brand is always offering a splash of newness but based solidly on favorite core styles that one can both build upon and rediscover in new colors and fabrications. While LeSwim’s unmistakable identity is modern-minimalist chic, its philosophy is long-lasting quality and style.

Last November, during the pandemic, we took the leap into brick and mortar with our first stand-alone boutique in Beverly Hills. We opened in the South Beverly Drive district of Beverly Hills, and it’s been an exciting new chapter for LeSwim!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Thanks to my years of experience with my first brand of handbags and shoes, I am quick to notice red flags and have learned to listen to intuition and pivot as swiftly as possible. One of those adjustments for LeSwim was bringing pattern-making close to home where I am based (Los Angeles). In this way, I am able to control every detail along the way and ensure that the fit is a seamless and second skin! I also brought the manufacturing of the resort wear to Los Angeles, where I found I was able to keep the quality and price in check while supporting local business. I now import the finest textiles and work with smaller factories here where I know by whom and where the goods are being sewn. We are able to follow it at every stage and be sure there is the ethical treatment of both the environment and workers.

Covid 19 has also been a challenge and changed our business, with a shift to grow our direct to consumer sales. It was a very scary road in the beginning, with buyers out of jobs, retailers claiming bankruptcy and orders postponed or canceled. But it also brought us out of our comfort zone and we have pivoted to focus on our own direct consumers and open our own store.

We’ve been impressed with LeSwim, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
LeSwim is a female-owned fashion company specializing in resort lifestyle. We offer the whole look – both swimwear and resort wear for sophisticated Summer style. We are known for the amazing fit of our high-end swimwear and styles that have an edgy minimalist sophistication. We work with partners such as Neiman Marcus and Saks, where quality is a top priority. Our unique styles set us apart, and our fit keeps the customer coming back. Now customers can experience the entire LeSwim collection at our Beverly Hills boutique where they can find all their favorite styles and cuts in one place!

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most people think I’m Italian but I’m actually Greek! I just have a long love affair with Italy! Greeks and Italians both have a passion for life and beautiful countries I absolutely adore! From a business perspective, I really admire their craftsmanship and style.
