Today we’d like to introduce you to Rhesa Teesdale.
Rhesa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In my freshman year of high school, my mom suggested that I started a T-shirt business that depicted Bible verses on them. I brushed off the idea completely because I did not know where to start and I did not have a job to support finances for the business. Three years later in my senior year of high school, I came to terms that I wanted to start a business before I leave high school. The idea of this brand came about in January of 2019 with a very close friend of mine, Jorge Peña. I told him about this idea because he already had experience with business previously and we got to work immediately. We went back and forth for months perfecting the brand as much as we could. It took us nine months to officially launch our first clothing drop but it all paid off because we want to focus on the message more than anything.
The name of the business, Prophet | Envoy, actually means “God’s children sending a message,” and we aim to spread the message of peace, inspiration, and motivation to all people through the depiction of motivational quotes and Bible verses on urban-style clothing. The brand has now been operating for a year now and it has positively impacted a large variety of individuals from places all around the world such as the US, Canada, Asia, Africa, and Europe as well as collaborating with renowned influencers such as Dre Goldi (YouTube personality) and Zion Harmon (ESPN top 100 high school basketball prospect)!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Although we have accomplished a good amount as a clothing brand in a year’s time, it definitely has not been a smooth road. I thank God that it has not been a smooth road. I have learned so much from the mistakes I have made with the business, which has allowed me to have the success I have with the business. In my droughts periods where I was not receiving as many orders from customers, I learned how to adapt and change my marketing strategy to be able to maximize my sales. There were times where the business would sell out in a matter of hours, but there would be other times where our inventory would not move for several weeks at a time. These drought periods allowed me to reflect on how to move forward with the brand more effectively and bounce back with better results than ever!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey progressing my brand is that it is ABSOLUTELY imperative to know how to pivot and adapt to trends accordingly. Don’t get me wrong, stay true to the message behind your brand, but if you learn to incorporate elements of new trends into your brand, you will succeed in business. The second that I learned how to incorporate trends in the streetwear world into my own products is when my business started to receive a substantial amount of engagement and orders. I am so grateful that I learned this skill and I urge other entrepreneurs to learn this skill as well!
