Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Gilbert.
Stephanie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m incredibly grateful to do what I do. I love being a therapist and my goal from the time I decided to get my Masters in Clinical Psychology was to be a private practice clinician. I got my degree from Antioch University Los Angeles specializing in Spiritual and Depth Psychology. While studying I also took the opportunity to study Buddhism in France and study the connection between spirituality and medicine in Brazil. I learned so much while at Antioch, and also chose to train at Antioch University Counseling Center. From there I gained experience working at several treatment centers and in private practice until I passed my licensing exam and opened my practice almost two years ago now. I gained additional training along the way, and am now a Certified Beck CBT Clinician and am EMDR trained as well.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There were definitely harder days or weeks, but no harder than most training to become a therapist. I was blessed with knowing what I wanted to do once I became licensed, and that helped during the harder times. I knew what my goal was from the beginning and was working towards it.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I provide individual telehealth therapy to adults. I specialize in CBT therapy and am a Certified Beck CBT Clinician. I’m also EMDR trained. Some issues I frequently work with are: anxiety disorders, OCD, depression disorders, eating disorders/disordered eating, and life challenges. In addition to individual therapy, I run a weekly group for those in recovery for eating disorders/disordered eating. My training and experience are things that set me apart from other clinicians. I also love what I do, and work to stay up to date with training and research in the field.
What’s next?
As far as the future, I plan to continue working and perhaps growing the business. I also just started a blog series where I spotlight a new clinician each Thursday, which I’m very excited about! And I also recently got licensed to provide telehealth services for Florida residents.
