We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself and how the boutique got started.
Our journey began in January 2021, mid-pandemic. Being on lockdown and taking a break from the 9-5 gave us the opportunity to slow down and start moving with purpose. We always had dreams of being something much bigger than ourselves; we knew we wanted to create a community and provide a safe space for everyone.
We decided to combine our knowledge of spirituality with our passion for creating, and that’s how we got Mystic Aura Boutique! We specialize in handcrafted products that have specific intentions for the people who use them. The first thing we created was our crystal candles (soy wax candles with crystals, herbs, and essential oils). We tested a few out to see how they would do, but we didn’t know where this would take us or how far we would go. The response turned out to be really positive, and we soon had to start filling orders! It felt so aligned with what we needed in our lives. We consistently dropped new products and ideas, and in only a few months we really started to see the business grow and flourish. Along with making and selling products, we also incorporate education and guidance into our brand, which connects us with a lot of different people. Over time, you start to build a support system from all around, from people who don’t know you personally but are on the same journey as you. It is so important to be supported and motivated; truly, that is what got us this far. It’s not always easy running a business, especially in the beginning stages. You go through a lot of emotions and feelings of insecurity, but knowing that others believe in you gives you the confidence to keep going. You’ve got to love what you do and be open to sharing that with the world. It took us a long time to bring this business to fruition, but we took a chance on our dreams, and it was so worth it!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
To pursue your dreams and be successful, you have to be willing to sacrifice. Your time is no longer all yours; you now have to choose to dedicate yourself to these goals you have. Sometimes you’ll be tired of waiting for the reward and just want to give up, but you can’t. Finding balance in business is difficult, balancing your needs, wants, and necessaries. Doing this in your mid-20s is not for everyone; it takes a lot of dedication and discipline. These are the years a lot of people our age soak up—the years to have fun and explore. I’m not saying we don’t have fun, but we have something to focus on, something we have to choose every time in order to be successful. Even working just a little towards your goals every day will get you where you want to be! Keeping that motivation is something you have to train your mind to do. It’s especially hard when you have your day-to-day routines, full-time jobs, and the chaos of being a young adult. We’ve gone through a lot of struggles in our lives, specifically with losing the people closest to us. Although we strive to make them proud, we wish every day that they would be here to experience these blessings. It’s their love and spirit that push us to be our best selves. With all the darkness in the world, you have to find your light.
