Today we’d like to introduce you to Marta Miller.
Marta, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started a maternity clothing line called Moody Mamas, which was successful in terms of sales but the production was a nightmare. Nobody would help a young brand just starting out and it seemed like everybody was either ignoring us or trying to take advantage of us. I realized that there was an intense need for a one-stop design, development and production company that was oriented toward excellent customer service and that could provide young brands with access to industry resources that weren’t available to them previously.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The early struggles were with Moody Mamas, which were almost all on the production side. There were no one-stop solutions, so getting a product made meant working with five or six different vendors across the supply chain. That meant that nobody took responsibility for mistakes or felt accountable for the quality of the goods. Then we went abroad to Peru and China and had our money stolen in both instances. It became obvious that we needed to find a way to produce in America under one roof. Once I figured out how to make it work here at home, I was able to extend that capability to other brands.
There are too many challenges to list since I’ve been an entrepreneur since 2007, but my most recent major challenge was obviously COVID. I thought we were going to need to shut down the whole operation, but thankfully we got some large PPE orders with hospitals and healthcare companies that kept us busier than we’d ever been throughout the pandemic.

Lefty Production Co. is a one-stop shop development house and apparel & accessories manufacturer based in the heart of Los Angeles.
We guide new and established clothing and accessory lines through sketching and design, fabric and trim sourcing, labels and branding, pattern and sample making, duplicates, fittings, pattern revisions, marking and grading, cutting, production and packing.
