Hidden Gems: Meet Lisa Braithwaite of The LisaB Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Braithwaite.

Hi Lisa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I recently realized that I’ve been speaking, teaching, and training for 30 years now! After many years in the nonprofit sector, using my voice to educate and advocate in the community, I turned my skills and experience into a coaching and training business. I’ve now been helping leaders and changemakers build visibility, credibility, and influence through engaging presentations for 17 years.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Obstacles have generally been created by me, myself, and I! In the beginning,

I thought I could get all the support and training I needed for free. But my business didn’t grow until I started investing in my own coaching and training.

Some of my obstacles have been related to mindset, like not seeing or pursuing opportunities because I didn’t believe in myself. I’m also fiercely anti-hustle and used to think I was lazy until I realized I’m just a “chillpreneur!”

The pandemic definitely affected my business, but one of my strengths is adaptability, and luckily, I was already experienced in delivering coaching and training online. I noticed what new needs arose for my clients and developed three new trainings as a result. One of them was adapted into a LinkedIn Learning course, which launched in September 2022.

We’ve been impressed with The LisaB Company, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m on a mission to help leaders build visibility, credibility, and awareness for their work through engaging presentations, a mindset of service, and authentic connection.

I support my clients to build their speaking skills and confidence through 1:1 coaching, corporate training, and DIY on-demand workshops.

My trainings model authentic, aligned, collaborative, and fun presentations with relevant, practical, and useful content that moves the audience into action.

I’m most proud of publishing my book, “Presenting for Humans: Insights for Speakers on Ditching Perfection and Creating Connection.”

My philosophy is that public speaking is fun, it’s an awesome way to express yourself creatively, and it offers an accelerated approach to developing an intimate and trusting relationship with your target audience.

Alright, so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can work with me by bringing me in to train their staff, board, or volunteers to represent their companies more effectively through speaking, or by reaching out for 1:1 coaching. I’m happy to collaborate on events and projects for professional development in the business and nonprofit industries.
