Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Hart.
Hi Brooke, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Japan by my Japanese mother and my African American father.
Ever since I can remember, I loved clothes! My dream closet was the one from “Hanna Montana” where they had this huge walk-in closet full of clothes, shoes and bags. It was clear from the earlier stage of my life that the fashion and beauty world was something that inspired me.
Growing up in Japan because of my appearance, I felt like I didn’t fit in. I felt I was “out of the box” when I wanted to be in the box. This led to my insecurities where I didn’t feel confident in my appearance. In my truest form.
As I became closer to my mid-teenage years, I started accepting myself for who I am, but what made a huge impact on me was when I discovered my own personal style. Being able to be comfortable in my own skin, my own body was something that gave me confidence and joy.
During my college years, I didn’t know what I wanted to become, as many can probably relate. In my 2nd year of college, I found out about a profession called “personal stylist” and that’s when I knew that this is something I want to do. After doing some research and learning more about personal styling, I decided to invest in some courses and got certifications to gain my skill and knowledge to be the best personal stylist I can be!
During the pandemic, I have created Enchant Style, my personal styling business. My main goal was to make people feel confident through authenticity. I have also started offering color analysis in 2022 as I hope to expand my business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have definitely been ups and downs along the journey. When starting a business, you learn so much about yourself as a person. Your business is a reflection of you. I learned how I can be impatient. How I was hesitant to change. These are lessons I learned through my business. Facing yourself and your beliefs is not the easy part, but it is worth understanding.
There were offers and services I provided that I no longer provide because it wasn’t in alignment anymore for me. There were multiple instances where I questioned what I was doing. But during these times, I always come back to my “why”. Why I started Enchant Style. To make people be seen. It’s easy to get lost but I kept believing in what I offer and the lives I get to inspire.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a personal stylist and a color analyst who provides personal styling services along with color analysis. I am proud to say that I value authenticity in my business. I know how it feels to want to blend in or wanting to be accepted by society. I also know the discomfort that comes with it.
Because I believe your confidence comes from understanding yourself, your authenticity, I provide services that will help you be in alignment through style. I don’t want my clients to just “look” good. I want them to feel good in their body. Gain confidence by being themselves. We have so much influence from the society, the media and environment where it can feel like you have to be in a box. Same with style. Many people wear clothes not because they feel joy towards them but because they feel like they “have to” or because they just copy others. We get dressed every day, so why not use style as a tool that can work for you.
Enchant Style offers one-on-one services where you can have a fresh start in your life, style, and wardrobe to get a transformation. We also offer color analysis, consultations and other services to fit your style needs.
What does success mean to you?
I define success by accomplishments. Not just tangible accomplishments but also intangible results. By how many people I get to inspire. Seeing my clients’ transformation. How much fun I am having through my business. How much knowledge I get to spread. I used to define success by numbers but I realized that is just the traditional way of how business worked. I started to feel overwhelmed by how business was supposed to measure success so I decided to include intangible results as part of it.
The feelings I feel when my client tells me how they feel good in their clothes or how they are so excited to wear their colors from color analysis is irreplaceable. These are successful and joyful moments for me.
