Exploring Life & Business with Kai Boyer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kai Boyer.

Hi Kai, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I founded Kai Boyer Fitness in 2016 while I was attending undergrad at UCI. Starting your first business especially while in school is extremely challenging, I had to carefully balance time, priorities and resources in order to successfully manage both responsibilities. It takes patience, consistency and dedication to truly grow a business from the ground up. I did everything I possibly could in order to build a reputable and trusted business in the community.

Within a couple of years, I soon had more clientele than I could handle and couldn’t keep up with all of the admin responsibilities of the business so I had to bring on staff to assist me with the rapidly growing business. I am incredibly proud and grateful for the team that we have built, I wouldn’t be able to do it all without them.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As any entrepreneur could attest to, starting and running your own business from the ground up is never a smooth road especially in the beginning years when money and resources are incredibly limited. It can take years for a business to build a reputation in a community and become profitable.

After building an established business and finding success for many years the past year and a half with COVID and the lockdown formed a whole new set of challenges and difficulties that we have had to adapt and be creative to overcome. Rebuilding the business in the current climate with the new surges of COVID has by far been one of the most challenging things we have faced.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Since 2016 we have run one of the Top Rated Programs in Orange County, CA specializing in Women’s Weight Loss & Physique. We are renowned for helping clients transform not only their bodies but their lives overall. We teach clients about healthy and mindful living through the process of ‘Kaizen’ which focuses on small daily improvements of one’s self. For many people they try to drastically change overnight and soon end up giving up on their goals. Introducing fitness and wellness into your life is a matter of daily commitment and making small gradual changes ingraining them to your daily routine. Our clients have a much higher rate of success because we break down these changes so it does not become overwhelming or discouraging for them.

We have an amazing community of women who come together to uplift one another and encourage each other to better themselves which I think is an incredibly rare and beautiful thing. Comradery, accountability and having a support team is another huge factor I credit client success to and is one of the unique factors of our business.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
In the past year and a half with the lockdown, we have had to learn to adapt and constantly evolve given the current situation and climate. Every business has faced hardship and difficulties from the shutdown, the fitness industry particularly has been hit hard. We have had to adapt, we did outdoor sessions for most of last year. My trainer Sheryl has built a very successful Virtual Training Program via zoom for the clients who have moved away or those who are not ready to return to the gym environment.

During the quarantine while we were shut down, I authored and published ‘The Kaizen Journal’ which is a daily self-improvement journal that not only encompasses physical improvement but time management, goal setting, personal development and much more. There is a lot that goes beyond just physical improvement and how you feel about yourself so this was my chance to get to connect and help people all over the world change their habits and their lives.
