Exploring Life & Business with Dr. Chianni Lin of Center for Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Chianni Lin. Dr. Lin and her team share their story with us below:

Growing up in Taiwan, Dr. Chianni Lin’s interest in and experience with Chinese Medicine and holistic healing practices began at a young age. Taiwan is a society deeply rooted with the Chinese culture and Chinese Medicine. Chianni received a lot of information and stories on all kinds of healing arts growing up from her grandparents, parents, and in school. Her family actively practiced Chinese medicine, meditation, tai chi, qigong, and yoga. She actually received her first acupuncture treatment when she was four years old.

Given her upbringing and desire to help people, Dr. Lin pursued becoming a Doctor of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine with the goal of making a significant and sustainable difference in improving health. What she loves about Chinese Medicine is that it seeks to understand and treat the underlying condition of the body (vs just treating symptoms) with the goal of transforming the patient to a higher level of long-term health, stability, and wellness.

Opening her own health and wellness center has always been a dream. As the founder of the Center for Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine in Santa Monica, Dr. Lin is able to provide a range of health improvement services in a beautiful and nurturing setting.

As a Doctor of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (DAOM), Chianni Lin is highly respected as one of the leading Eastern Integrative Medicine providers serving Santa Monica. She holds a Doctorate of Traditional Oriental Medicine degree from Emperor’s College, one of the preeminent Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine programs in the US. She is:

Nationally certified as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine
Board-certified and licensed in California
A member of the California State Oriental Medical Association
Trained in Facial Rejuvenation and Cosmetic Acupuncture

Dr. Lin is also a certified and highly experienced yoga teacher. Her yoga certifications include pre- and post-natal and certification in Advanced Relax and Renew restoratives. She’s been featured on the front cover of Yoga Journal and in Complete Home Practice, a DVD series put out by Yoga Journal.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The path to becoming a doctor and opening my own center took several turns. When I graduated from college, I decided that I wanted to see the world and chose not to go to medical school in Taiwan. After years of travel, I ended up moving to the U.S. 17 years ago. The transition to the US was challenging. A different culture and language were exciting. However, finding the right career path took time.

Initially, I dove into the world of yoga which I love. After teaching in some of the leading yoga studios in SF and LA, being on the cover of Yoga Journal, and being part of a yoga DVD series, I decided it was time to pursue my ultimate passion of becoming a doctor. Twelve years later with degrees from one of the top schools in the country (Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine), here I am.

I love working with my patients to improve their health and the quality of their lives. The opening of the Center for Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine has allowed me to fulfill a dream.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Center for Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine?

Dr. Lin has also developed a 10-week integrated health improvement program to accelerate the achievement of her patient’s health goals, to help them feel better and more vibrant, and to improve their overall quality of life. It is a lifestyle change program that will improve your body, mind, and spirit in a sustainable way. The program called “10+” is a customized program that incorporates acupuncture, Chinese herbs, nutrition, yoga, and other exercise and movement with active lifestyle coaching over a 10-week period.

Any big plans?
My plan is to make the Center for Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine one of the premier centers for healing in the U.S.
