Exploring Life & Business with Denise Williams-Jones of Next Level to Success

Today we’d like to introduce you to Denise Williams-Jones.

Hi Denise, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started in the dental field in 1995, working in some of the top dental offices in Southern California, with roles including chairside assistant, inventory and supply manager, team trainer, scheduling coordinator, financial coordinator, marketing liaison, community outreach, and front office lead. I realized in working in these offices I have a passion and commitment to customer service. I think it is the backbone of a business. I feel especially in the dental field offices pay so much attention to the clinical side of things and they forget to focus on their culture. In my opinion, the right culture in the office is just as important as dentistry itself. It can and will affect the bottom line, which is money. I wanted to create a program that can help dental offices improve relationships with their fellow team members and with their patients all while raising their bottom line. That is what Next Level to Success is all about.

I started this business part-time while I was still working in a dental office. My former employer allowed me to use the office as a test lab for three years so I could beta-test my curriculum. After determining which things worked, I parted ways with my former employer who is still a good friend and made the leap to pursue Next Level to Success on a full-time basis.

I am a Dental Customer Service Consultant, Speaker, Founder, and Owner of Next Level to Success. My specialty is Phone Training, Maximizing Patient Flow, Treatment Case Acceptance, and Delivering Exceptional Customer Service with regard to all things patient care. I speak all around the country, have designed continuing education courses for The American Dental Association, and am currently a consultant for the American Dental Association as part of the Dental Team Advisory Group for Practice Management.

I absolutely love what I do. I am following my dream and love assisting dental practices in creating a better culture, streamlining systems, and increasing their bottom line.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Even though I’ve been in the trenches working in dental offices, it is tough to switch gears and now be the trainer because it takes a while for the dental community to accept you in this role. You have to put your time in and keep being persistent especially when you know you have something that can help them. I have been blessed with some fantastic mentors who have successful businesses in the dental industry and they keep me on course. I meet with some of them on a regular basis and they are always willing to help me with things. I believe it is important to have a strong support system and I am very grateful to have them.

As you know, we’re big fans of Next Level to Success. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a Dental Customer Service Consultant, Speaker, Founder, and Owner of Next Level to Success. My services include team training workshops, one on one training, and speaking at conventions and seminars.

What sets me apart is my ability to connect with others. You can put me in a room with people of different races, gender, religion, class, and political affiliation and I will adapt. I am proud of my ability to engage, show compassion and remain authentic. It is my brand, what I am about, and what Next Level to Success is about.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I am one of twelve children. I grew up in Duarte, California, and had an amazing childhood. Growing up my family was very close and even though my parents had twelve kids, they still allowed all our friends to always come over to the house. My father was known as a man that always helped all that he could. He taught us to have compassion for others and always lend a helping hand. I grew up a Jehovah’s Witness and started going door to door from around age 4 or 5. I left the religion many years ago and although I am not part of it, I attribute my ability to connect with others directly to going door to door as you never knew who was on the other side of the door so you had to adapt.

I love music. I read something recently that said, “music is what feelings sound like” and I totally agree. Growing up, we always had music on in the house. My other love is reading. I used to read for hours growing up.
