Today we’d like to introduce you to Corey Spiegel.
Hi Corey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I spent most of my thirties and forties as a senior executive in the entertainment world. Think Warner Bros, Ellen, Extra, Playboy, etc. Big companies. Big stakes. When I looked outside the boardroom at my family and friends, I noticed that women tackle important decisions in three ways:
– Following the status quo and doing what they should do
– Asking their well-intentioned but very biased best friend/sister/mom for advice, or
– Googling until their eyes hurt and walking away even more confused.
I had a board of directors at work and an incredible community of women around me, but that level of support was missing in my personal life. I craved a place to get real with other women facing similar challenges, someplace I could gain perspective on a shared experience and hopefully find community in the process. I wanted to find unbiased, and experienced advisors who were willing to give honest counsel, mentorship, and smart guidance about life and the struggles we all face. As the idea grew, I met many talented and wise women who joined me on this journey.
We created a place where women could come together and get real— without fear, without a preconceived opinion, and without judgment.
Light House was created for me, for you, and the countless women out there in the world who crave wisdom, insight, and community in life’s journey.
Since 2019, we’ve held 480+ classes and events. Today, we’re a diverse, inclusive, and global community of brave women redefining what it means to be a modern woman.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing in life that is truly worthwhile is a smooth road. You have to come to terms with the amount of effort it takes, the countless hours you will work and the lack of team players you’ll have around you to bounce things off of. Let’s be real and come to terms with the struggle. It’s not a friendly companion but it is going to be along for the ride. It will be part of your story. A vital part. I look at my struggles as an ascending stairway – the higher I get, the more difficult the climb. Every entrepreneur goes through this process whether they admit it or not. The more we can talk about it and normalize this conversation, the easier it is to realize you’re not the only one going through it. This is precisely why I am so incredibly drawn to running a vibrant community of intelligent women who will lift, advise and support each another.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
While I realize my answer will date me, my favorite childhood memory was simply being a child. There were no cell phones, emails, texts, instant messages or social media. The day was over when everyone got home from work and school and the primary focus for the evening was dinner and family time. Dinner brought the family together as we all sat and shared stories about our day. It’s probably one of the main reasons my family remains so connected and tight today.
