Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Bredesen.
Hi Christopher, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in the South Bay, went to USC for my undergrad then Pepperdine for my MBA. During this time that I would watch my dad run his fast food restaurants (Burger Kings). I knew restaurants were in my future.
During these years of school, I was able to travel the world surfing which allowed me to see and be exposed to many different cultures and cuisines. The ability to travel had a lasting positive impact on my life.
After graduating, I opened a small cafe inside of a car dealership. Then started The Rockefeller (first location in Hermosa Beach). From there, we opened multiple other Rockefeller locations (Manhattan Beach then Redondo Beach) and opened/purchased a few other different brands (Captain Kidds Fish Market, Riviera Mexican Grill and Primo Italia).
We continue to grow our brands.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There is nothing smooth about opening and running restaurants. The struggles can be big or small, and they can be sporadic or daily. I have continued to learn how to deal with these struggles and not let issues affect me personally.
Some obstacles include:
– Building issues, which can be huge monetary and time-consuming problems
– HR-type issues, we are all human.
– Numerous operation issues and repairs, the list goes on and on.
But how about an obstacle we all just went through? COVID.
The challenge of opening and closing, hiring and firing, outdoor dining deck building, health dept compliance, etc. That was the biggest struggle so far. The current obstacle is now inflation and supply chain issues that we are all dealing with.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about CB Services Management Inc?
We primarily focus on owning and running restaurants but also owning real estate and property management services. Our team has collectively owned and managed over 20+ restaurant operations over the past 30+ years.
From fast food to high-end dining and everything in between, we have a proven track record.
I would say the one thing that we are most proud of is taking over very well-known “landmark” type restaurants and “improving” them while not changing what the restaurant is at its core. One of our locations (Captain Kidds Fish Market & Restaurant) has been in business since 1976. When we took it over, we focused on improvements that would allow for another 50 years of business but keeping the brand the way locals in our community expect it to be.
Being born and raised in this community, it is so important to provide locals the experience that they expect.
Any big plans?
Does anyone know what the future holds? We are “planning” to continue to open new locations and expand our brands. The business atmosphere for restaurants continues to become “harder and harder” with increased costs and regulations. I feel for the up-and-coming restaurateur that is looking to open their first location here in California, it is a very challenging time.
