Exploring Life & Business with Salvador and Aldo Chacón of WildGoats Creative

Salvador Chacon and Aldo Chacon are the creative and directorial duo behind WildGoats Creative; a multi-faceted production shop. Originally from Mexico City, they have been working as partners in Los Angeles since 2015. The brothers both graduated college in Texas before they moved in different directions to pursue their creative dreams. Although Aldo gained a BA in Business, he instead made the decision to relocate to Europe in pursuit to learn the process of lighting. This route led Aldo to become a photographer. He started working in fashion shoots as well as creating personal work that garnered him several international jobs such as shooting campaigns for TV networks and brands of the stature of Adidas and Spotify, amongst many others. Sal, on the other hand, soon after completing his BA in Drama and Communications, began working jobs in different areas of filmmaking from camera department to sound, to art department and eventually producing. In 2010, Sal relocated to L.A. to pursue a career in acting while simultaneously working as an advertising producer. Sal’s most recent credits in front of the camera include FX’s ‘Mayans MC’ and Showtime’s ‘The Chi’.

In 2015 Aldo and Sal decided that it was time to open a diverse production shop that could work in numerous forms of projects and mediums. One that can always adapt in size depending on the scope of each unique project. This strategy has allowed them to work with a larger spectrum of clients while also creating original content. To date, WildGoats has produced work for global influential brands such as Disney, Fuse, BET, Adidas, Starter, Propella, Gatorade and Red Bull to mention a few. The future is exciting. Sal and Aldo have recently teamed up to write and direct branded and original content under the moniker “Los Chacón” – Their last name and how many refer to them when they see the two together.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Coming to Los Angeles to work in an industry that is already saturated and highly competitive is definitely at the top the list in terms of challenges. We understood early on that we really had to focus on creating and offering something unique and special that would stand out above the immense pool of content that is generated in this town every day. It is definitely an endurance trail where you have to constantly evolve while maintaining the edge that separates your work and your brand from the rest. If you add to this that we are immigrants and part of a minority, then the work becomes twice as hard. At the end of the day, these challenges fuel our imagination and drive us to turn our dreams into reality.

We’ve been impressed with WildGoats Creative, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
WildGoats Creative originated from the desire to have a platform to create visually stunning content driven by strong human emotions and stories. It was conceived with the understanding that media and content production is evolving at an unimaginable speed creating the need, now more than ever, to explore every possible avenue in order to meet resources and timelines. We hold a firm belief of staying true to the creative process while striving to develop a more conscious audience. WildGoats is the result of combined disciplines and a network of super-creatives. We have a pool of hybrid talent that allows us to assemble a tailored team for every project; That being an advertising campaign, a music video, a film or an immersive installation. Each one of us works and thrives in multiple creative mediums, therefore we are able to construct richer stories. We are proud to be a multicultural company that works on all sides of the border. Through an imaginative approach to production and the creative, we are known for elevating the value of the projects we work on.

How do you define success?
For us, being able to create something that people will see and feel inspired by is a great achievement. But being able to sit around the dinner table and create memories amongst the people we love, that is how we define true success. No matter the circumstances we are in, if we take advantage of the positive aspects of our lives, we can use those as a guide to open new doors. Success is utilizing challenges as opportunities to grow professionally and personally.
