Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Matthew.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started working in the Cannabis Industry when I was 20 and it eventually turned into a career. When I was 27, I got pregnant with my first child and felt the need to do more. Around the same time a close friend got diagnosed with cancer and her doctor recommend to get rid of a lot of cleaning and beauty products due to toxins. She offered to give the products to me and it made me realize if she can’t use them then why should I? Especially being pregnant, I felt the need to take care of myself and the people around me a lot better. My husband and I researched on making homemade natural products and decided to put one of the most natural healing ingredients of all-cannabis! We decided to produce Salves, Roll-Ons, and Infused MCT Oil and Made From Dirt was born! Healing others is a gift. We’re able to help with people’s issues with pain, sleep, anxiety, psoriasis, eczema and so much more! We’ve had stories of people being able to wean off pain pills. It’s unexplainable on how amazing it feels to help others. Recently, we started Sun + Moon, similar products but without Cannabis. We understand that not everyone is comfortable with CBD or THC and that is fine! We wanted to make our products available to everyone.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When we first started Made From Dirt, we followed every beauty standard and had test results before it was required. Then Cannabis became legal and made it a lot harder for small businesses to thrive. We were fortunately able to continue with a license and sell all over California. Jumping through a lot of hurdles with packaging requirements and testing. We had batches fail, packaging wasted, and just trying to stay current with our competitors. We weren’t able to sell CBD online for three years because it wasn’t allowed. Ads were denied. Instagram accounts banned. We are now able to sell online but we’re still struggling with ads. A lot of competition, especially brands with a lot of money and power behind them. But we will keep going, especially to help those who rely on our products.

Made From Dirt is a natural cannabis line. We use the highest quality ingredients that pass very high standards of testing. We thrive on helping others. We are very proud of being able to handcraft products that has helped with skin issues, pain, and sleeping/stress. These are problems we all suffer from. My family has extremely sensitive skin so having products I can use on my babies is very important. Sun + Moon has no cannabis and it is what I use on my entire family every single day.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If it were easy, then everyone would have their own business. When things get rough, just keep going! It takes time for things to take off. It won’t be immediate to have a lot of orders rolling in but once they do, it will keep getting better!
