Daily Inspiration: Meet Whitney Rosenson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Rosenson.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always loved art and my parents were contemporary art collectors. Art Dimensions was actually started by my mother as an art rental and sales gallery, and when she passed away in 1998, I acquired the business. At the time, there were approximately 40 artists on the Art Dimensions roster and paintings, prints and sculptures were the only media handled. In the years since, I have created a user-friendly website, a podcast, and presently have more than eighty exceptional artists on the roster. Also, Art Dimensions now offers paintings, prints, sculptures, photography and drawings for lease and for sale.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been some struggles along the way, but I am grateful for them as each challenge has taught me something valuable. One challenge is keeping up with the 83 artists I represent, and keeping abreast of the national and sometimes international, gallery shows they are participating in, as well as the new series of works that the artists are always working on. I love to see their work in person and eighty-three is a big number when it comes to studio visits! Also, when I opened a gallery space in January 2020 the timing could not have been worse. Covid broke out in March and unfortunately, hosting openings and shows was not an option. Although this was a very challenging time not only for Art Dimensions but for every other small business, it forced me to think outside of the box and to pivot. I closed my brick and mortar space at the end of 2020. I then worked with a colleague to redesign my website which has become the main hub of Art Dimensions Inc.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Art Dimensions Inc. (ADI) is a web-based art leasing and sales business. We specialize in the leasing of fine contemporary art with option to buy and deal with various media. These include paintings, prints, sculpture, photography and drawings. ADI is known for offering a lease-to-own program. As 60% of one’s rental fees applies towards the purchase of the art, leasing is an affordable way to acquire or build onto an existing art collection. It also allows young collectors the opportunity to transition out pieces and create a rotating gallery in their home or office, if they choose to. I believe what sets Art Dimensions apart from other art rental businesses is our inventory. In addition to dealing with the works of emerging artists, we handle art from established and well-known artists, some of whom have pieces in museums and galleries in the U.S. and abroad. The inventory at ADI is vast and varied and we can accommodate almost any request.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risk-taking is essential. As an entrepreneur, my business has grown and I have learned so much by taking risks. Whether it’s taking on a new artist for my roster or starting my podcast, “Beyond The Palette,” these endeavors expand my creative world and knowledge of the arts.
