Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie Ramirez.
Hi Valerie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My entrepreneurial journey started when I opened my first dance studio at age 17. By age 20, I moved into a retail space and by age 28, I expanded from my 1200 sf studio into a 7500 sf space, officially branding as “The Lab.” After just one year, I expanded once again into a 12,000 sf studio and gym and spent the next decade training and developing young talent to become world champions in dance and young professionals in the entertainment industry. In 2021, we moved out of development and training and into a brand new creative headquarters in the Arts District in Downtown Los Angeles. Today we focus on representing and investing in top-level talent, working in brand partnerships while collaborating with some of today’s most iconic artists.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an entrepreneur has daily challenges. Quick thinking and solution-focused approaches have become one of my main skill sets! Finding the lessons along the way really helps me recognize how to grow and shift into new ways of doing things to find success and fulfillment in my work.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The Lab specializes in business for creatives. We are known for our high standard of excellence, thoughtful representation and elite management of projects and performances from start to finish.
What are your plans for the future?
I am looking forward to continuing to elevate the standard of the dance industry. In general, the longevity of dance careers has been limited in the past and I believe there is a way to expand and nurture careers to make them lucrative and long-lasting for everyone involved.
