Daily Inspiration: Meet Kristina Sullivan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Sullivan.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a native of California but grew up mostly in the Boston area. I am a graduate of Cambridge Rindge and Latin School where I earned my high school diploma. I am also a graduate of Los Angeles Valley College where just last year I earned my Associate of Arts Degree in Theater Arts with a Certificate in Theatrical Performance, class of 2021! My career in the entertainment industry started with acting in local theater productions and independent films, then I started also writing scripts and working with others to produce the scripts! Every production I have worked on has always required a team of talented people, all working together with the common goal of producing quality content, and I’m very thankful to the teams because I have definitely been able to do far more working with others than I could have ever done on my own! Recently, I have also started acting in various audio shows, and I love that with the audio shows, I can record my dialogue without even having to leave my home!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the struggles have been figuring out how to financially bring certain stories from the script to the screen or from the script to the stage. I have a lot of ideas that I would love to have produced and it can sometimes be a challenge to get the finances needed to produce certain projects.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an actor and a writer. I specialize in family-friendly entertainment that encourages and inspires people of all ages; I especially enjoy creating thoughtful, intelligent, and unique entertainment with commercial appeal. As a woman of color, it is very important to me to show examples of strong female lead characters of color who are integral to the plot and who are interesting characters who are relatable, flaws and all. My work has won multiple awards, including Best Picture at the Re:Image Film Festival and Viewer’s Choice at the Valjean Friday Night Film Festival.

My work has been seen around the United States. My festival screenings include the Roxbury International Film Festival, the Texas Black Film Festival, the REEL Independent Film Festival and Extravaganza, four films in the 168 Film Festival, and three films in the African American Film Marketplace and S.E. Manly Short Film Festival.

Currently, I can be heard on the Indie Series Award-winning audio soap opera, “Forever and a Day” in the role of Stephanie Markham. The first 3 seasons have already been released, and we’re now recording season 4! I can also be heard in this year’s new audio Christmas romantic-comedy, “All I Want for Christmas is Drew” in the role of Stacy!

I have always loved acting and writing and I’m proud to continuously do what I love, whether it’s a big production or a small production, a big role or a small role, I’m proud that I’ve never given up my acting and writing dreams, and I’m continuing to do what I love!

One of the things that set me apart from others is that I don’t give up, when I have a goal that’s very important to me, I pursue it until it’s been achieved!

How do you think about happiness?
My family and my friends make me happy, especially my two kids, Chris and Michelle!
