Daily Inspiration: Meet Corina Tamayo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corina Tamayo.

Hi Corina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always felt the need for a creative outlet. Whether it be doing my nails, experimenting with different hairstyles, or crafting. In high school, I joined an independent photography class which really filled my need for creativity. Something about the entire process of pulling together a photoshoot really made me happy! The creative process for a photographer includes so much more than choosing a location and grabbing a couple. I have become so passionate about creating an experience for my clients from start to finish. I want my couples to be comfortable with me because I feel it makes for not only good photographs but good memories. From there, I started shooting friends and family which is how my little hobby took off into a small business. I still work full time, but I would love to make photography my full-time job at some point.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Since photography is not my full-time job at the moment, the biggest struggle by far has been time. I want to learn as much as I can, be available for my clients, location scout, edit, and have fun! Right now, with a full-time job there are only so many projects I can take on.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I think I am still finding my voice as a creative but I truly aspire to be someone who fosters actual friendships from the work I do. I want my clients to be excited and comfortable to work with me. I am always down for an adventure and trying new things, my couples often have different ideas and I love getting to be a part of their plans.

I am most proud of the work I have done in the past few months with my couples. They are honestly the best to work with! I hope to be known for cultivating an experience with couples that are unforgettable.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Oof, I was sporty, wild, nerdy… kind of all of it. I played softball most of my life, I was in speech and debate (I talk way too much) and I was a big personality. I like to goof around and be outside a lot! I always found myself DIY-ing everything. I like to think I am still all of those things but the reality is photography is my life now and I love it. It incorporates everything I am as a person and allows me to do all the things I love!
