Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolyn Hori.
Hi Carolyn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hi, I’m Carolyn Hori. The Master of Inspired Action.
Once upon a time, I was your classic, Type A, 3rd generation, Japanese American overachiever, complete with glasses, piano lessons, outstanding GPA, tennis togs, and, yes, I even had a perfect bobbed haircut.
I graduated from UCLA dutifully performing everything expected of me because it was all I knew. I began working in corporate America immediately. I nabbed a job working for a real estate developer. A career in commercial real estate seemed a good fit and I eventually achieved the life I thought I wanted, working my dream job in an intense office catering to the needs of entitled ultra-high net worth clients as the Director of Asset Management, specializing in commercial real estate assets throughout the nation. Steadily, I ticked all the boxes on the checklist of success, which in the eyes and minds of society, my culture, and my family meant that I had made it. Twenty-plus years of personal hard-driving work made it absolutely unmistakable: “I’ve finally arrived.” At least, I thought I had.
Then, in 2006, what started as a distant whisper became a clear voice which said that I was meant for more…a lot more. And it wasn’t in real estate. That voice threatened everything I had accomplished and everything I thought I was. I just wasn’t ready to listen. The voice persisted my higher self and my inner voice, led me to various studies including Neuro-Linguistic Programming, attending conferences with Abraham Hicks, Oprah, Byron Katie, Tony Robbins, and reading everything that spoke to me. (And they are probably the same books on your shelves now!)
My dream job, the source of my identity and all the material comforts I earned became unbearably inauthentic. I could feel the conflict between working hard for money with spoiled brats and being in the flow of creating a real abundant existence filled with Joy and Fun. Part of my illusion of happiness was to surround myself with people who were just as unhappily comfy as me, who were equally filled with fear about change and our toxic commiseration of limitation only kept us trapped. I always felt like I was the only one in my group shell shocked by the gut-wrenching emptiness of this type of success…I was the only one asking, “What is the meaning of this life? ”
By 2015, I was so disengaged from what I was doing and yet fearful of change that for months it manifested as physical sickness, insomnia, and just not enjoying anything at all. I was miserable and my whole life had to shift. In Japanese, there is a concept called Ikigai, which means “a reason for being”. It was time to surrender to my inner voice and find my Ikigai.
With a poster board filled with twelve Post-It notes as my parachute I took the leap of leaving my corporate job and landed on the unstable ground with the realization that it was exactly what I needed to do. It was also extremely scary. I also found that it wasn’t a solo journey because it was evident right away that to connect with people was also to help them. My ability to mentor, guide, and advise with assurance and purpose was never about buying buildings; It was about buying into the connection with my intuitive gifts and offering people the possibility to share the comfort and clarity which comes from the confidence found in my words and their journey. Helping people find their own strength, their inner voice, their Ikigai was right here for them within my strength and my voice. And so my own Ikigai was known: It is to be The Master of Inspired Action.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I believe if you ask most spiritual entrepreneurs that have truly embraced The Work during their journey, it hasn’t been a smooth or linear path. For me, I have had to deprogram myself from cultural, ancestral and gender norms that have been engrained in me from before I was born.
I have been reprogramming myself into BE coming a human Be-ing vs a human Do-ing. I have had to learn to operate from my heart and not from my head. While I am grateful for all of the programming that got me to be the successful and whole person that I am, I know that that way of operating in the world will not fully serve me or my Mission going forward.

I specialize in being a personal mentor and business consultant. I help people and businesses uncover their Mission and align it to their business or new idea, career or exisitng career to help them have more personal and professional satisfaction. What I am most proud of is that I am privileged to be able to change lives on a daily basis in the work that I do with individuals, teams and businesses.
I help people have more Purpose and Mission in their lives and take people from “should” to “get to”.
What makes me different is that I have a highly developed intuition and I utilize this skill to talk with a person’s higher self. Sometimes the part I help them access if something that they have never mentioned to anyone nor have they admitted to themselves.
