Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Roiland.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my blog around eight years ago this March. I started my blog for fun and wanted a way to showcase my style to others. I was very inspired by NatalieOffDuty. I saw her and thought, I can do this too. So I started shooting myself with a clicker and tri pod everywhere I could. I was A Fashion Nerd. Prior to A Fashion Nerd, I had two other blogs. A Fashion Nerd really stuck. I am very nerdy about fashion and accessories mainly eyewear. I also started to design and designed eyewear for Betty and Veronica and sold out three times. I have also designed my own vegan shoe line and vegan camera straps. I just designed a line of shoes with Jessica Butrich as well. www.afashionnerd.com is my blog.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been smooth at all. It’s hard at times to grow and change. People do not want to see the same old stuff. I am always trying to find ways to grow and grow my brand especially. I think since I had Ryder Bird people are more interested in what I am posting about. Being a new mom is super interesting to a lot of people. I love incorporating her into my everyday life and fashion posts.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a full-time fashion blogger and designer. I design mainly accessories: eyewear, shoes, bags. I have a bag line out right now with House of Want and my shoe line with Jessica Butrich just sold out. I am proud of my blog and how I have over 1000 blog posts. I have worked very hard for the past eight years on my blog and my Instagram content. I love creating super fun artsy fashion posts most, very Wes Anderson. My fashion and use of color and texture is what sets me apart from everyone else. You can see when you click on my blog and social media.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I am not sure if luck has helped me at all along this journey. I have worked very hard. I used to shoot 3-5 blogs a day each day for years. I would shoot every single day and style multiple outfits a day. I would drive around and shoot every single day if I could. I didn’t have any luck or help to get to where I am today…
