Conversations with Sofie Rimler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sofie Rimler.

Hi Sofie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a born-and-bred New Yorker and comedy-loving Jewess who, in 2021, relocated from NYC to LA. Brave, I know.

I am a comedy actor, standup and sketch performer with training from UCB and The Groundlings and a passion for the absurd. I grew up watching every comedy / sketch show under the sun and always had an unhealthy obsession with “America’s Funniest Home Videos”.

I love all aspects of entertainment and have held nearly every role imaginable, from editor to producer to camera operator. Hanging out in middle school meant shooting a silly video for YouTube, and iMovie was my first love. My mission is to entertain, make people laugh, and use comedy as a tool for healing.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The mind of an artist has two sides—the side that works for good and the side that works for evil. The same mind that has the capacity to make wildly creative work that moves people has the capacity to lead one down a rabbit hole. Keeping myself balanced with a healthy sleep schedule, including going to bed at 9pm, helps a lot. I wish I was kidding but YES, I am a GRANDMA.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am known for my comedic acting, standup, improv and sketch comedy. I’ve performed standup comedy at Caroline’s on Broadway, The Stand, The Improv, The Laugh Factory, Dynasty Typewriter, among many other venues. I was also selected to be on GOLD Comedy’s LA Sketch Team, Crop Top Comedy (@croptopcomedy on IG, check us out!).

Catch me in comedic short film, “Lumped Together” (Portland Comedy Film Festival Winner), currently making the festival rounds, as well as in a new animated pilot from Midnight Oil Productions.
