Conversations with Lola Adabale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lola Adabale.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I had always been a creative soul growing up. From soaring at arts and crafts at school to singing in the church choir and posting hair videos on Youtube, I was always willing to challenge and reinvent myself. I disliked the idea of having to stick to one hobby or career for life; discovering more was the way for me. I first started out experimenting with my own hair around 16/17. I was cutting my hair, sewing more hair in, and everything else you can think of. My mom was the first person who told me I should make it into a business and create a legacy for myself. Soon enough, I started taking on clients of my own and building my own brand organically. While attending college at UC Riverside, Youtube was a big deal that led me into the world of makeup. Soon enough, makeup was the second half of what would soon become Looksbyloladoll. Whilst figuring out entrepreneurship, I also pursued my academic passions and graduated from UC Riverside, attended Loyola Law School, and became an attorney in the heart of Downtown LA. Juggling my legal career and Looksbyloladoll has not been easy, but I would not change it for the world. I’ve met the most amazing clients that have become lifelong friends. I can humbly say I am exactly where I need to be.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not! Failure was a part of the process of getting to where I am today. Nobody likes to fail, and in the moment it may feel like the world is literally ending! (I am an Aries so yes, dramatic lol) But the thing about it is I was always confident because God has gotten me through each and every challenge I’ve ever had. So whenever I feel like I am weak and can’t go on, my faith in God will always be stronger than those fears. I may trip or stumble, but I will always move forward and accomplish the goals I’ve set for myself. The biggest challenges along the road included finding the right vendors, the ebbs and flows of running a business, and many other situations. However, everything has always worked itself out in the end.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Looksbyloladoll began in 2017. We specialize in makeup, hair installations, and systems. We service a broad range of categories including bridal, graduations, birthdays, and any other special occasion you can think of. We also offer on-site services which involve each artist curating their own kit including supplying the products needed for all skin tones, hair/skin types, and ages. I am definitely most proud of the consistent book of business that was built literally from ground 0. What makes Looksbyloladoll unique is our consistent luxury hair and quality service.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Los Angeles is the land of dreams, entertainment, and beautiful weather. I love how diverse and beautiful the LA culture is and how there are always new events and ways to bring people together. I do not see myself ever leaving this place, EVER! One thing I do not like about LA is how expensive it is becoming and the toll it is taking on its native residents. I also believe Downtown LA needs to be completely reimagined and restructured in a way that is beneficial to its ever-growing population.
