Today we’d like to introduce you to Ken ‘Aka MrGentleman’ Pyle.
Hi Ken ‘Aka MrGentleman’, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello everybody, my name is Ken aka MrGentleman and I am the Host of MrGentleman Lifestyle Podcast and 1/4 Host of The Premiere Boyz Podcast. I am also a Club Promoter from NYC, Actor, Former Music Artist and an Entrepreneur. Being on the radio was something I always wanted to do. Also, getting into podcasting/radio, but I didn’t do it sooner because I was insecure about my voice and speech because I had speech problems as a kid. I was bullied because of that which took me a while to get into everything I wanted to do until I was an adult.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road has not been smooth at all because as a kid I been shy my entire life. I was picked on as a kid every day because I have speech problems and social anxiety and because of that, I end up losing confidence in myself. Sometimes, if you really want to do something you love, you have to go out there and take some risks. I never gave up on my dreams and that’s the reason why I started my podcast show MrGentleman Lifestyle Podcast on January 20th, 2019, so I can have others tell their stories. Also, tell my personal stories as well. This show is for everyone and for those who voices have never been heard.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Over the years, I did many things. I was a songwriter turned into a R & B artist and formed a music group with my friends from High School. One of our songs was played on the radio on Power 1051 FM in New York City. Also, I became a club promoter and promoted at the hottest spots in NYC (like Club Rebel, Club Octagon, Studio 21, Katra and Taj). I met many people in the nightlife industry. Later became an actor and was taught by Legendary Acting Coach Melvin Williams that got me 2 off-broadway shows (The Zoo Story and King Lear). It was amazing and one of the hardest experiences. I then became a podcast host in 2019 with 2 shows “MrGentleman Lifestyle Podcast” and “The Premiere Boyz Podcast” which was something I always wanted to do. I am glad I overcame many obstacles to get this far.
I am most proud of the podcast show because it’s taking me to extra levels in my life where I never knew I can reach, and I know it will get even higher. 2022 alone was the best year of MrGentleman Lifestyle Podcast because the show been #1 on the chart, getting interviewed by Voyage LA, well-known people hitting me up to be on the platform and more. This is just an amazing feeling right now. What set me apart from the rest is that I have been nothing but genuine and authentic. Just know it’s nothing but real on my platform.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risk to me is a very big thing, especially if you’re a person who has been shy all their life. If you were picked on as a kid every day, you can end up losing confidence in yourself. Sometimes, if you really want to do something you love, you have to go out there. You have to take on some risks and because of that I never gave up on my dream.
Being someone who has social anxiety, I have to take on many risks because those are things I always wanted to do. As a kid, I was bullied and dealing with speech problems. I never thought I would end up having a very successful podcast show and still growing to this day. I am glad to have a podcast show for almost four years (four years on January 20th). Many people can relate to my personal story and I am hopeful that I will inspire them to take the same risk that I took. Someone may want to start a podcast of their own. So no matter what, always take risks.
