Conversations with Julian Martin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julian Martin.

Hi Julian, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
As a freelance photographer based in Los Angeles, I have always had a passion for capturing the vibrant surf and lifestyle scene of the city. My background in surf photography allowed me to develop a unique aesthetic and an eye for capturing candid, action-packed moments on the waves.

As my portfolio grew, I began to gain recognition in the photography community and was approached by bigger commercial brands looking to hire me for photoshoots. I quickly realized the potential to expand my skill set and take on a variety of projects.

I have shot lookbooks for fashion designers, product photography for an e-commerce website, and even captured some editorial images for magazines. I always bring my unique perspective, but I can adapt and make the vision of the clients come alive, allowing me to work on a variety of fields and clients.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey as a freelance photographer based in LA has been both challenging and rewarding. But it’s a constant learning process, and I am always excited to see what new projects and opportunities come my way. I’m passionate about my art, and I feel blessed to be able to make a living doing what I love. I don’t think anything worth pursuing happens easily.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
There’s a million amazing creatives out there. I enjoy working with others and creating things together. We’ve helped some of the biggest names in the industry, like Taco Bell, Bose, and Lifeproof, tell their unique stories through stunning, high-quality imagery. Whether you need product shots, lifestyle photography, or campaign visuals I can help.

How do you define success?
Success is the accomplishment of a pursuit. So I find success if the fact that I get to do what I love. Building a strong personal brand and reputation in the industry. Getting to create different visions and watching them roll into the real world.
