Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Fiers.
Hi Danielle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was raised in Baltimore, MD and found my love of music at an early age by singing in my church youth choir. Everyone would always be so shocked because my petite stature didn’t necessarily match the booming voice that came out of it. I was affectionally known as the “pint-sized powerhouse” and quickly added piano to my musical abilities, first taking lessons then solely playing by ear. I attended the alma-mater of Jada Pinkett-Smith and Tupac Shakur, the prestigious Baltimore School for the Arts studying opera and being classically trained in voice to sing in French, German, Italian, and my native tongue English. After High School, I continued my musical training in college, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music from Towson University, and obtained an internship turned career with the Number 1 Hip Hop and R&B Station in Baltimore, 92Q Jams. While in college, I also obtained the title “Apollo Winner” after winning the world-renowned Showtime At the Apollo with my performance of Alicia Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You.” After years of working in radio, I decided to chase my dreams even further and moved to sunny California, where I have been afforded the opportunity to rub elbows and work with heavy hitters from Josh Groban to Jermaine Jackson. I have currently released the first of four music videos for my latest EP entitled “Don’t F With Me” which is an in depth look into a failed relationship, turning challenge into triumph. As I continue on my musical journey, I have also added Actor to my bag of tricks and am excited for all that Hollywood has to offer!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think the most challenging part of this journey has been the waiting period. Everyone has a period of time when it seems like nothing is happening, but it’s all in what you do WHILE you wait. We don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, but living out here in Cali has taught me how to TRUST and be PATIENT because everything is unfolding the way it’s meant to unfold. I have become more grounded since moving and following my dreams, more intuitive and confident in my abilities. The challenge is being happy and content in the moments of uncertainty and in the downtime. I am working on mastering that!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a quadruple threat!! Singer, Pianist Actor, Songwriter…I do it ALL! I also enjoy acrylic painting but that’s in my downtime…lol! My specialty would be classical voice, I have studied that all throughout my schooling, I can sing opera in my sleep, I am so confident in it. Voice Overs also come easily for me, I am so blessed to be given the gift of voice and song. I would probably have to say I am known for being the little girl with the big voice! I love shocking people by singing a Whitney Houston ballad effortlessly and watching their faces when I’m finished! I’m most proud of my drive..never giving up. There’s always more than one way to skin a cat, and try all of them if need be! I think that’s what sets me apart from others. I am in a category with very few, the elite. The ones with perseverance, but I am also proud of my nature, I always want to be a good person, first and foremost. That’s very important to me.
