Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandro Amezquita.
Hi Alejandro, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m a 22-year-old who is a music director and guitarist from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I started playing guitar when I was 12 years old and haven’t stopped ever since. After spending countless hours practicing guitar, I started looking for opportunities to perform live. I spent a couple of months performing with a cover band before taking the decision to move to Guadalajara to pursue my music career. Unfulfilled by opportunities, I took the next leap in my career and moved to Los Angeles where I currently reside since 2018.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There has been ups and downs, but that’s just how everything is. Everything is about prioritizing things that matter. The music industry is very competitive, if you are not willing to put in the work and take risks then, are you really trying? The main struggle for me has always been networking. Meeting the right people is extremely important. I’m an introvert, not very social to be honest, but I’ve been able to connect with amazing people who have influenced me to come outside my comfort zone.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I do music direction, session work, and songwriting. I’m really proud and grateful for every single opportunity that I’ve got in my career so far, from writing songs with Randy Jackson, performing on TV with Mickey Guyton to working with really talented up-and-coming artists such as Mo, Valentina Mami, and Maxx. What sets me apart is the attention I give to every single detail, I’m always looking to deliver a product that stands out from the rest.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I wouldn’t be able to mention just one to be honest. I’d say every single time going on vacation with my family is my most favorite childhood memory. Family is everything to me.
