Conversations with the Inspiring Trista Hidalgo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trista Hidalgo.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Trista. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started as a wedding photographer in 2010 after a dear friend asked me to take his engagement photos. At the time, I was a dog action photographer and thought he was crazy. He persuaded me to do it and I’m glad that I did because I had a ton of fun.

I’ve always had a flair for the offbeat and non-traditional, I’m incredibly open-minded and adventurous and am the silliest serious photographer you’ve ever met, As a Los Angeles wedding photographer, I know there are so many photographers to choose from. I’m so fortunate for the awesome couples that have found me over the years and trusted me with photographing their weddings. I have a soft spot in my heart for documenting creative couple’s love and their fab weddings.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, there have been many ups and downs. In the beginning I was working really really hard and running myself ragged, but not making enough money for the time. Some advice, know your worth!

Also, get a network of friends in the industry. I’m so incredibly thankful for the amazing creatives that I’ve met through Tuesdays Together Los Angeles. They have saved my sanity.

What should we know about Trista Maja Photography? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m a purple-haired, adventurous, pet-adoring wedding photographer with a love for creative couples and documenting their awesome weddings. I specialize in vibrant true to color wedding photography, I like my skies blue and my grass green and I’m all about lots of color, especially purple. I’m most proud of my ability to put my clients at ease and to help them have fun and not stress on their wedding day. One of the many things that set me apart is my openness for all things, I love diversity and hope to bring more diversity to the wedding industry through who I feature on my website and all over social media. I happen to be Pansexual, part of the LGBTQIA+, I’m in the +. I believe that everyone that wants to get married should be able to and have the simply amazing wedding that they want.

It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
As far as podcasts a few of my favs are Online Marketing Made Easy with Amy Porterfield, Evolve Your Wedding Business with Heidi Thompson and Talk with Renee Dalo.
