Conversations with the Inspiring Priscilla Dawes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Priscilla Dawes.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Priscilla. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I moved to Orange County from Knoxville, TN four years ago. I have always been interested in all things beauty growing up but didn’t pursue it as a career till I moved. Three weeks into a new city, I started the esthetician program! I worked at a spa for a year and realized that client/esthetician relationships were not a priority. After that, I decided it was time to open my own business! My main focus is giving my clients the results they are expecting and giving them that one-on-care that I feel like most places are lacking.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Opening up my business has not always been smooth sailing. I started my business off a leap of faith and hard work. I hardly knew anyone and did not have the luxury of networking like others. I put in my best work that I could and put myself out there to make my business as successful as I could! My advice to women that are just starting is to show up and keep putting your foot forward even when times get hard.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am an esthetician specializing in Image Skincare treatments and Elleebana Lash Lifts. I offer services ranging from your monthly maintenance facials to chemical peels if a client needs something more corrective. I am most proud of helping my clients make that change in their skin. Seeing them more confident in their natural skin is the most rewarding thing. My goal with each and every client is that they feel comfortable and walk away with the best results!

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
Being in this industry for three years now, I see just what women are capable of. I have met the most encouraging and hard working women. The beauty industry is not the easiest, but it can be the most rewarding. The opportunities that the beauty industry gives to women are incredible. It brings us together and, with that, we can overcome any obstacles/opportunities that comes our way!
