Conversations with the Inspiring Orit Mesica

Today we’d like to introduce you to Orit Mesica.

Orit, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was designing jewelry for many years, but my passion was always cooking. I come from a family of backers and I always felt that something was missing in the puzzle.

I decided to leave the jewelry and with an investor, I opened my first restaurant in downtown LA.

Has it been a smooth road?
The restaurant was a fast food gourmet Mediterranean cuisine, it wasn’t easy at all. The rent was super high and we couldn’t make it to the second year.
It was my dream and I felt like the biggest failure in the universe.
Took me a year to recover, emotionally and financially.
But I didn’t give up… I knew my food was tasty, but most of all, I didn’t give up on my self. I woke up and decided to open a catering company, I started with close friends and from ear to mouth people started to call me and I got orders. And I’m still working hard to build the business of my dreams.
Don’t ever give up on your self or your dreams. You have to believe and have the certainty that there’s a plan for you in this world and the tough times are here to make you stronger.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Canaan Catering La LLc & Dba chefomè story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m a chef and I own a catering company.
I’m building the new brand of my pastes chefomè and most of all, I want to give back to humanity as much as I can.
I cook with love.

Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
This is so true.
