Conversations with the Inspiring Kirsten Paige Moen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirsten Paige Moen.

Kirsten Paige, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Kirsten Paige all started back in 2014 after an interview for a dream internship in New York City. Moments before the interview my dad had asked me, “Why would you want to design for someone else when you can design for yourself?” Needless to say, the path I thought I wanted to lead me to my true destination… starting my own company. That very same day Kirsten Paige was born as we headed back home to St. Louis, Missouri.

Since then, myself, as well as my company, has evolved tremendously from learning where to source fabrics for figuring out the tricks of the trade to sewing. That right, I said sewing. All of my gowns are made to order in the USA and sewn by yours truly. It’s a lot of work but completely worth it for our brides. Currently, we are in the process of preparing our largest trade show yet at New York Bridal Fashion Week this upcoming October!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Honestly, every day there is a new adventure or challenge that I face whether its paperwork, fabric sourcing or scheduling. However, one struggle that I constantly face along the way is that you can’t or it’s not possible. Along with my journey, several people laughed at the idea of myself starting a company right out of college. I’ve been told several times making clothing in America can’t be done…  it’s too expensive. For young women, my advice would be to eliminate the word altogether. If you work hard and keep moving forward to succeed… YOU CAN DO ANYTHING! Yes, there will be good and bad days but to get through those tough days you need to reflect on the positives and highs you’ve had. Ignore what others think and keep moving forward with what you truly believe!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Kirsten Paige story. Tell us more about the business.
Kirsten Paige is an emerging bridal company that designs for the strong, radiant, free-spirited bride that does not compromise her personality or style. Our American made gowns are known for their movement, dramatic backs and feminine details that allow a bride to express her true version of bridal. We offer customization by mixing and matching out gown tops and bottoms, adding color, removing slits and more. At the end of the day, we want our brides to be happy and feel true to themselves even if they are in a bridal gown.

Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
The most important piece of advice I’d give to a young woman starting her career would be to be YOURSELF! Don’t try to be like others to fit in if you are born to stand out. I know I’m guilty of it but it it’s easy to compare yourself to others and overthink but at the end of the day its none of our business what others think of us. As long as you are true to yourself and your values that’s all that matters.
