Conversations with the Inspiring Jen Asaro and Georgia Syrengelas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Asaro and Georgia Syrengelas.

Jen and Georgia, please share your story with us.
As two hair and makeup artists with more than 15 years experience in film, television, special effects, editorial, fashion and mostly weddings. Our focus with our clients is just as much in education and product consultations,

9 years ago we met working together in Southern California. Little did we know, looking back now that we have always had a strong connection through our work and our personal lives. Throughout time working together as busy as it can get, we always find time to laugh together and to make our clients laugh with us. Not only do we feel it is very important to look your best, but it is most important to feel your best on the inside.

It’s now been 3 years since we have started our company: Face It Sugar and it was the best decision we have ever made. We both bring a balance to this business and we now realize how important that is as owners. We feel that this is unique because we are the business owners which shows our cooperate side, but we are also the hair and makeup artists working one on one with clients which shows our creative side.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Of course, in life, there are always struggles. The road to success does not come easy, but we feel if you have a passion for what you do and the drive to make your brand stand out from all the others anything is possible. In this process, we also feel it is most important to stay real and true to yourself. Surround yourself with other girl bosses and support each other along the way.

What should we know about Face It Sugar? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are skilled hair and makeup artists that have formed a full team in the Los Angeles area providing services that are fully mobile. We will travel anywhere the client needs us.

We feel when you look beautiful you feel beautiful. Most women want to look like the best version of themselves. Whether that is highlighting a woman’s natural look or being glammed up and camera ready. Using a wide variety of professional makeup one of our favorites is the airbrush foundation. We feel the best beauty combination is looking fresh and flawless. It is also very important to be able to cater to all ages and all complexions.

Mostly we are known these days for specializing in weddings. This is our third year being nominated for California Wedding Day magazine Best of Bride. We also love doing vintage hair and makeup, which we get to do often working with Unique Vintage in Burbank. With our editorial work, we are always inspired by our travels and seeing all the different cultures.

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
There have been huge changes for women in the past decades.

Today, we have many opportunities. We don’t think that women should be limited to one particular position. Who says that a woman can’t do it all… shout out to all the amazing women out there doing amazing things on a daily.
