Today we’d like to introduce you to Rashida Thomas.
Hi Rashida, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In 2012, I left school with $99,000 in debt. By the time I started taking it seriously 3 years later, I owed $135,000.
I was running away from it. (victim/avoidance)
I was too ashamed to get help. (fear)
I could never envision my life without debt. (lack of faith)
And finally one day I hit my breaking point.
Years of brunches, degrees, traveling, and drinking. I had nothing to show for it.
It wasn’t long before I found myself on a therapist’s couch dealing with the anxiety around my finances.
I had to face my fears.
I had to create my plan.
I had to activate my willpower.
Since then:
I’ve paid off $30,000+ worth of debt in 18 months.
Became a Certified Financial Education Instructor.
Held financial educational and wellness workshops.
Helped my clients establish a healthier relationship with money and eliminate tens of thousands of dollars in debt.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I have experienced my own financial struggles along the way and had to walk through my own money story. The beauty in that is it allows me to share those experiences to create the mental and emotional clarity for the clients that I serve. And in turn creates a pathway to implement wealth-building financial strategies that will actually stick.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I took a leap of faith, quit my corporate job and moved to LA in May 2022. LA has been an expansive city for me thus far.
