Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Foitel.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have a passion for connecting with people and making an impact in their lives. From a young girl, I was naturally more reserved, I studied people and always remembered those who made me feel myself, and that to me was important, connection with the right people. I always loved fashion, so I started my career in the fashion industry from a back room in a merchandising closet to then PR and Marketing roles across various brands in Los Angeles. I then shifted to do more of what I loved which evolved to producing photoshoots for fashion brands across LA namely under the Conde Nast group as well as local start-ups like The Black Tux in Santa Monica. A few close friends and I at one point through our shared love of fashion and friendship started a 501-C-3 that donated proceeds of donated luxury goods to various local charities in need benefitting women. It was during this time I had a chat with my dad on the beach when I was living down in Marina del Rey and suggested I get my Real Estate License. I had grown up in a Real Estate family so I knew what it took to be successful. I remember going with my dad to new development projects and getting to help pick out finishes and furnishings for model homes as a kid with their designer, so I felt this could fit in well as I thought more about Real Estate. I went ahead and got my license for fun not thinking it would turn into an actual career for me – Shortly after I got married in Lake Tahoe and my husband and I after years of living in Marina del Rey and Venice moved out to the Conejo Valley.
Funny story – this is the same area both my husband and I grew up in but didn’t know it – we met in Venice and after learning about each other with an already mutual friendship realized we had parallel lives as children growing up just down the street from each other. My husband is in the music industry and after living in NYC for years never thought he’d come back to LA to meet his future wife who happened to also be from his hometown. Meant to be. So my husband and I decided to leave the beach and head back to the area we once called home after many years of living in the city and that’s where it all began. I re-connected with a lot of friends and colleagues since I grew up in the area and since becoming settled with kids it has been quite the adventure. I am grateful for my background in a fashion which lead to my eye for interior design, and my production background which refined my negotiation skills and seamlessly orchestrate projects from start to finish making my transition to Real Estate feel natural. I am extremely detail-oriented and take time to ensure my client’s needs are exceeded, which is why the majority of my business is referral-based and repeat business. I have a strong reputation in the area and continue to build relationships with my clients and other agents as my business continues to grow. I am with Compass in Westlake Village and excited to continue to build my brand in Real Estate.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Leaving a well paid steady job to get to work for myself and do something I’m passionate about was not a smooth road, but it was the only road worth it for me. One of the biggest challenges (and blessings) I have faced was becoming a mom. I was just shy of a year and a half in Real Estate when I had my first son, and I had 2 under 2 right in the middle of the pandemic and my world shut down. It was extremely overwhelming navigating being a new mom and also having my career basically on hold. I have the tendency to want to control things, so this was an opportunity for me to learn to let go and soak in the moments with my boys since I couldn’t do anything about the outside world. It was around this time I found an energy healer that worked with me and I was able to learn to shift my perspective and learn ways to be more present and grateful for what I did have which allowed me to be less stressed, happier and more fulfilled. I wasn’t as critical on myself and in turn became a better mom, wife and this led to developing strong relationships which helped my business prosper once the pandemic restrictions lifted. I continue to practice meditation, breath work and energy healing on the regular which has kept me more balanced when attempting to do it all.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a seasoned Real Estate Professional and provide a fresh perspective and strategic guidance for my clients to buy, sell, lease and invest in Real Estate. I specialize in people. I focus mostly in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, this area includes most of the Conejo Valley and surrounding areas such as Los Angeles, The SanFernando Valley, Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Oak Park, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Camarillo, Oxnard, and Ventura. Close enough to commute to the city, but far enough to see the stars at night with rolling hills of open space, and a 20 min drive to the ocean its a highly sought-after and popular southern California suburb. If a client is looking to buy, sell, lease or invest in any location outside of my local focus area I have a strong network of agents globally that I can refer out. This helps me stand out as a preferred agent in my field. I am highly intuitive and have a great repor with local agents, so I tend to have a great batting average when in a multiple-offer situation. I have continued to build my brand over the years, and with my background in fashion and production of many years, I could not have picked a better career to merge all of my past experience of negotiation, design and aesthetic. I have learned through the years in this business, in highly intense situations my personality and ability to seamlessly guide my clients through the natural highs and lows and keep everyone calm and happy.
I find that establishing a strong connection is the first step in having a great relationship with my clients for life. My business is referral based, so I ensure every aspect of a transaction is perfect, in order to exceed my client’s expectations and refer me to their friends and family as their trusted advisor. Real Estate is one of the most valuable assets in an individual’s financial portfolio, so buying and selling such an important piece of their life is something I don’t take lightly. I ensure a level of trust and confidence with my clients by providing them with accurate up to date market data, and local expertise. Based on my client’s needs and personality types, I find the best communication style that fits them and tailors a custom experience. I am completely dedicated and focus wholeheartedly on each of my clients as if they are my only client. I have a team in place through Compass on the backend to ensure the process is always efficient.
I would love to get to know you and be a trusted advisor on your team or to anyone you know in and out of the LA and Ventura County area.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m just a phone call away 🙂 But really, the best way to work with me is if you are thinking of buying, selling, leasing or investing in a home. The sooner the better we connect, and I can help map out the process for a seamless experience. Even if its out of state, I have connections globally and would love to connect the dots to the person that can help you best if it’s not me. I’d love to collaborate with you if you are a local business in the LA or Ventura County area and team up to do an event or an interview or any type of marketing to support each other and our community. I love connecting with people.
