Community Highlights: Meet Chloe Panta of Bonne Chic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Panta.

Hi Chloe, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always had a passion for writing. As a child, I would write short stories and essays for fun. English was my favorite subject and I aspired to become a teacher when I grew up. Fast-forward to today and a lot has changed. While growing up, I noticed that a lot of adults around me would talk about how they disliked their jobs and how they were excited for the weekend. I quickly realized that I wanted to create a life for myself where I would fall head over heels in love with whatever I decided to do and live my life happily every single day. I asked myself what I wanted to do in life and I still have the same three answers today as I did years ago: get to know God on a more deeper and personal level, travel the world and live out my passions doing what I love that allows me freedom. After years of figuring out my life’s path only to find that I create it myself, I cultivated a blog, Bonne Chic, which is an online destination for travel, lifestyle, beauty and business tips for the modern millennial woman. I created Bonne Chic as a creative outlet to express and share all areas of my life that I love. Bonne Chic became my passion which became my career as I transitioned into blogging and creating content. I feel as though I am doing what I love and I want to inspire others to do the same. If I can create a dream I envisioned into a real, physical thing, then so can anyone else.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Although I would like to say my journey has been smooth, it has definitely had its ups and downs. Before I started my creative business, I worked in corporate America and had a high-paying job. I loved my job and what I did but I found myself losing sight of the important things in my life. I wanted to create a life that would allow me to travel and do whatever I wanted to do, whenever I wanted to do it, all while making the kind of income I wanted to create. I wanted to create freedom for myself but I was unsure how. At this point in my life, I was still searching for answers on how to create something out of nothing and turn it into a physical thing. I wanted to turn my passion into my full-time job but I was afraid of leaving my comfortable lifestyle behind. I still wanted the high income and a business that would allow me to work on my own terms. After several years of trying different types of ideas out, the one that stuck and the one I always came back to was writing. I decided it was time to focus on my goals and my dreams and I did. I took out a notebook and a pen and I simply made a list of everything that made me happy. I did not write down the things that did the opposite.

As the list grew longer, writing stood out the most and this was what I decided to focus on. A few weeks later, I started my blog. I worked on my blog whenever I could. Before work, during lunch, after work and on the weekends was my time to create my dreams. As much as I would like to tell you that a few days later, I was able to replace my six-figure income with my blog – that didn’t happen. But it did happen a couple of years later when my blog became profitable. I made the transition smooth. I made sure I had savings from my job to sustain me (and then some) before making the leap. I was able to work on my blog and live comfortably without having to sacrifice my lifestyle. There were so many mistakes I made that I learned from and times that I felt like giving up. One thing is for sure; persevere and stay consistent and it will work out for you. As long as you believe it will.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
