Hi Candice, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Every since I was a little girl, I’ve had a passion for lip gloss. I would go to the beauty supply store and rack up on the cherry, strawberry and grape lip gloss in the roller ball tube. I remember being so obsessed with lip gloss that I always had it on my lips and on hand. My friends can testify to this. (laughing) My love and passion for gloss continued throughout my teen and adult years. Fast forward to 2012, God planted that seed of desire to start my own beauty line and provide healthy and affordable lip products to lip lovers just like me.
I researched the industry thoroughly and learned how to make lip gloss but I had to put the project aside to later pick back up in 2019. I believe there is a season for everything and God’s timing is always on time. There were so many life lessons and experiences between 2012 and 2019 that were so pivotal to the woman I am today. If I started my beauty line, Captivating Candy, in 2012, I would have just sold lip gloss. The woman and business owner I am today sells an experience- a transformation. I was that young lady going to school wanting to look and feel beautiful while also juggling the many hats and responsibilities in life. My lip scrubs and lip oils offer an element of self-care which is the best care. My lip gloss can be used as a tool to boost confidence and embrace boldness. It’s a lifestyle!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building a brand takes passion, creativity and a lot of hard work. Anything valuable will not be easy. There has been trial and error as expected. However, those moments are lessons. And those lessons resulted in improvements from production to packaging and marketing. There is no handbook on how to successfully build your brand. Everyone’s company is unique and although a person can be coached and consulted, no one can tell you how to run your business like you can through time and experience. There are weeks when sales are flowing and there are days when it’s really quiet and slow. Instead of obsessing over the quiet days with low sales, I use that time to read more, brainstorm on more ideas, marketing tactics and improve my brand overall. Obstacles are apart of the journey. It’s all about how you look at it. I like to look at a challenge in the face, put on my lip gloss, and boss up!

Our products are made with vegan and cruelty-free ingredients including natural oils that nourish and moisturize the skin. Our glosses are very hydrating and long-lasting. In addition to natural healing ingredients, our beauty products are made with lots of hard work and love. There is a variety of glosses to choose from depending on your flavor. We have hydrating clear, glitter, nude and pigmented glosses.
