Community Highlights: Meet Brandice Webb-Pondexter of 28 Skincare

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandice Webb-Pondexter.

Hi Brandice, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have loved skincare and beauty all of my life. Like literally since I was 5! But in my home that was not considered a real career. In my parent’s home, the only options were Doctor, Lawyer, or joining the military. So I chose the safe route and decided to go into dental. I was 28 at the time and had been in dental since I was 16. I was miserable! I loved my patients but my passion for dental wasn’t there anymore. I remember sitting in my car during lunch one day crying, thinking that life has to be better than just the regular mundane routine I was doing. So with the blessing of my husband, I left my career in dental and enrolled in Coba Academy for esthetics in Anaheim and the rest is history!!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has not been smooth but it’s been very rewarding. When I graduated from esthetics school in 2019, I had found out I was pregnant with my youngest. So the plan was to start my company, build my clientele, go on maternity leave and come back in March of 2020. Well, we all know what happens in March of 2020… the pandemic! The esthetic world was hit the hardest. We were unable to work, we were told that we could lose our license if we continued to see clients. So here I am freaking out because I had just left my secure career in dental to now be in the beauty industry that was unstable at the time. Thankfully things have gotten better and I have been able to open my own skincare studio.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about 28 Skincare?
28 skincare is a skincare and wellness business. My philosophy on the skin is to take an inside-out approach. What you put into your body is just and important as what you put on it. So I really like to work with my clients on nutrition, self-care, and then of course helping them to meet their skincare goals through various treatments. I take an ethical and results-driven approach with my treatments and specialize in acne, hyperpigmentation, age management treatments, hydrodermabrasion and chemical peels.

I am so proud that my brand has helped to educate so many people about skin, skin health, and how to really just embrace the beauty of their skin regardless of what condition it is in.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in good or bad luck. I have always had the mentality that if I say I’m going to do something I’m really going to make it happen by any means necessary.
