Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharelle B. & Sierra T.
Hi Sharelle and Sierra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
We actually were in the same undergraduate program at North Carolina A&T State University but just rolled with different people on the yard. After graduation, we were following each other on Twitter. One day, I (Sharelle B.) tweeted, “I want to start a podcast” and Sierra has tweeted something similar like a few days later LOL! I (Sharelle B.) jumped in Sierra’s DMs and was like “you wanna start a podcast?”
A few days later, we met at a bar, had some chicken fingers and drinks and two weeks later, the first episode of the podcast was born….without a name. The show was named Headwraps & Lipsticks based on Sierra’s love for headwraps and Sharelle’s obsession with lipsticks. Our collection is impressive.
Basically, we both are passionate about politics, trending topics and pop culture and love to break down the topics together. We both are liberal spirits but instead of just giving our opinion, we love the fact that fans come to us for the facts. That means a lot to us.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Smooth isn’t the word we would choose. LOL! We’re definitely having a good time being podcast creators however the road of being independent can be challenging.
We are constantly getting hit up for collaborations and just based on the email alone, you can tell that they do not listen to the show, they just want a spot. And that’s fine but we feed off the fact that we know our audience and we can’t, for brand purposes, can’t just let any and everyone on the show. Then there are some people that want to sponsor and when we send then the prices, it goes on deaf ears.
There can also be a lack of support or just the fact that you feel like you should be in a higher space so sometimes your confidence can lack at times. But we know our fans really do rock with us and support the best way they can.

Outside of us being hosts of Headwraps & Lipsticks, we have other talents. Sierra T. is a talented and published photographer. On top of that, she is a Book Influencer. Please check her out on TikTok (@sisi.be.reading) Such a bookworm and decided to capitalize on it.
Sharelle B. is a published writer, and have things published in numerous publications. She is also building on being a cocktail curator and is a programs & events coordinator for a non-profit. She will be opening her own event planning company soon. Definitely, time to venture into my own space.
As for the podcast, what truly sets us aside from the others is how well we vibe with each other but still remain to have our own things and personality. We also state facts. All the opinions are cool but what are they based on? We feed off of that. The fact that people will pass over GMA or local news and come to our channel or social media pages for the news… that’s dope and we adore the fans for it!
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Pick a lane and stay there for the most part. It’s cool to merge a little but make sure its intentional. Don’t let anyone try to overshadow what you are building. It’s your bricks…use them the way you want to. There is room for us all.
