Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Fanous.
Hi Sarah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am Canadian, Egyptian and American. I was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada and I spent my whole childhood there, except for one year, living abroad in Egypt with my family. Shortly after high school, I moved to Los Angeles California to study acting at Theatre Of Arts Hollywood! I recently graduated from the two-year program and have been working, creating, auditioning and making my career in Hollywood. I am an actor, dancer, singer and comedian.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a struggle for me moving here alone from another country. Even though Canada is just next-door a lot of things are pretty different. I found myself struggling with the adjustment during my training and now living here. It was hard to leave my family and friends behind to come somewhere so intimidating. Somewhere I knew no one, however I have been tremendously lucky: to find really good friends that look out for me and a wonderful community at my school that helps each other out, I’m very grateful.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an actor. That’s what I studied, that’s what I moved here to do and I absolutely love it! I’ve been involved in theatre since I was little but coming here to college. I’ve really expanded on myself and have been tackling on camera as well as theatre and I love them both. I am also a trained dancer. I studied at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet for 11 years growing up, in a multitude of different styles. I sing, and most recently I have begun stand-up comedy, performing at different shows around town, including The World Famous Comedy Store. I am very glad to have been allowed the room to grow as a performer.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I just want to say thank you so much for this opportunity and platform to share. There are so many young creatives all over the world. It’s nice to know that you’re not the only one and everyone is out here doing the best they can, and pursuing their passions.
