Today we’d like to introduce you to Sadhna Sheli, a wellness advocate, plant-forward chef, writer, “meditated” wife & mom of 4 and talks about holistic approaches to health and well-being..
Hi Sadhna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My path to wellness began growing up in an Indian family. Yoga was a way of life at home, including quiet meditative time – reading, writing or cooking plant-based foods.
This way of “living yoga” was my anchor throughout my life. When I became a mom, I began to weave this conscious lifestyle into my mothering and then naturally my writing expanded to subjects that resonated with my kiddos.
While at first glance The Masala Girl and Wee Soles Studio might appear to be unrelated, at their core they both share the same message of living with intention, awareness and in harmony with nature.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has been a “rocky road”, but just like the ice cream with its sweet bits of chocolate, there have been some really amazing moments I wouldn’t trade for anything. But let me tell you it helps that I am going through this journey “heavily meditated” as I like to say 🙂
If I had to name my biggest struggle, it would be how to find more time in my day – I think that most mamas can relate to that one.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an advocate for helping both adults & kids cultivate happy minds and happy bodies. I am also a wife and mom of four, a classically trained chef, healer, meditation guide and author.
Outside of my role as a mom, I feel most proud when I serve my community. Whether that’s helping people bring peace & harmony to all aspects of their life or reading my books to at-risk or under-resourced kids – I love what I do!
What sets me apart from others is my ability to connect with both adults and kids and meet them where they are in their wellness journey.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I love to upcycle, it’s a passion of mine that began in high school.
I try my best not to purchase anything new for my home or myself if I can find it used, in an effort to reduce waste and consumption of material goods. I also love that these thrifted pieces have a story.
In fact, the malas I make by hand for my Etsy store are all created with sustainability in mind, using recycled materials as much as possible – this makes for one-of-a-kind pieces.
