Check Out Michael and Kevin Scheitzbach’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael and Kevin Scheitzbach. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Michael and Kevin Scheitzbach, also known as FlowXS are a brother duo originally from Toronto, Canada and now reside in Los Angeles to pursue their dreams as professional dancers. Growing up dancing in competitive studios, the regional arts program in high school, drop-in studios and multiple conventions, Michael and Kevin have grown to develop their skill sets from a young age. With their drive to improve, their love for dance, and the support of their parents, they quickly grew to become two of the youngest dancers in Toronto able to do everything. From local showcases, competing and winning competitions, assisting choreographers, teaching their own classes at studios, choreographing music videos for local artists, and booking TV shows and movies consistently, Michael and Kevin’s passion and love for the art form lead them to many amazing jobs and opportunities in Toronto. They knew in order to pursue their dreams of booking award shows, world tours and working with the biggest artists in the world, Los Angeles was the next destination for them. And in the summer of 2021, they did just that. Since the move, both brothers have been incredibly successful in re-establishing their connections and booking amazing jobs. They are looking forward to what the future has to come in their young careers in California.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Early on, bullying was probably the biggest obstacle faced, due to the fact that they both wanted to dance at such a young age. They were often teased and made fun at school for wanting to dance instead of playing sports (which they still did. Both boys grew up training in taekwondo, as well as played volleyball and soccer), but dance was often looked down upon.

Another challenge both boys faced in their careers in Toronto was due to the fact that they started dancing in the industry at a young age, as they got older a lot of their peers still saw them as the young kids who they’d take class with. There was difficulty in transitioning to be more than just a class-taker because they started working more, teaching and presenting their own work, yet they were often still perceived as the young ones and not often taken too seriously while they grew into their new roles in the Toronto community and industry.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The brothers have been very fortunate enough to have worked on many projects over the years. Both boys have been in multiple seasons of The Next Step and have been in Disney’s Sneakerella, Spin, and Zombies 1 and 2. They have worked with artists such as Meghan Trainor, Paula Abdul, Imagine Dragons, Austin Mahone, and Avril Lavigne. Michael and Kevin have also performed on stages such as the Oscars with the cast of Encanto, Coachella Main Stage with 88Rising and the D23 Fan Expo.

The brothers have found inspiration in another sibling duo; Brian and Scott Nicholson. This inspiration has evolved into a mentorship / working relationship which sees them assisting, demonstrating and performing choreography at multiple conventions across the United States where Brian and Scott teach.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In an industry and environment where everyone around is so talented and possesses so much knowledge, it is so easy to be inspired and stay hungry working towards achieving your dreams. Always work hard, and show up for yourself by staying consistent, even when you’re not particularly motivated that day. It is really easy to plateau by remaining complacent, so for Michael and Kevin, they are able to stay motivated by pushing and encouraging each other as they continue to grow individually and together.
