Today we’d like to introduce you to Madam Bombs.
Hello Madam Bombs, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Our band is Samara Ellis on drums/backup vocals, Claire FitzGerald on guitar/vocals and Marlowe Shachory on bass/vocals. Samara and Claire met at a music school when they were little, and quickly fell in love with playing in a band. As they got older, they decided to start their own band outside of their school. They went through a few lineup changes until they found Marlowe who was taking lessons at another local music school, and she was awesome and had to be with them. We started out playing covers at small shows around town and eventually began writing our own songs, and in turn, more people were interested in us and offered us shows outside of our local scene. Now we play an all-original set and have become part of a great community of musicians and artists through the opportunities we’ve been offered!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing ever comes easily, so of course, we’ve been through our fair share of obstacles. We’ve had to part ways with multiple band members to get to the lineup we are at now. We’ve struggled with finding shows and having to get rides to shows because we started out before we could drive, busy schedules, and quarantine. Also, because we are a young all-female band, it sucks, but we have to be wary of certain attention because some people are creepy! But we love each other! And because of the struggles we’ve been through, we have grown so much stronger as a band and as friends!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
We make powerful rock music and are known for fun, loud, energetic shows. Our goal as a band is to spread positivity to get the crowd hyped! We believe bringing awareness to issues that we have had to deal with (as teenagers) is important to put out in the world so other people can relate and know they’re not alone! Also, it’s obvious we’re an all-female band, but we don’t let that be our defining aspect. We focus on our music and performance rather than our gender and looks.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
We just released our first two singles, ‘Get Me Out’ and ‘(Not) With Me’ and they are out on all streaming platforms! Our next single comes out January 13th, and we’ll be releasing more over the next few months, so keep an eye out!
Also, we were given the amazing opportunity to play at the Punk Rock Bowling Festival in Las Vegas on Memorial Day Weekend!!!
