Today we’d like to introduce you to Ezekiel Pacheco.
Hi Ezekiel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started at 19, my father heard an advertisement on the radio searching for actors, we signed up my little brother and the school director asked if I was interested in joining as well. I was hesitant as anyone else would going into something unfamiliar but my parents convinced me to join.
Fast forward I got agents, started auditioning, and over time I was blessed to start working as well as earning respect and recognition in the industry.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As an immigrant growing up in Watts, you don’t see people like me doing what I’m doing. I didn’t want to be an actor growing up but this art form chose me. It has not been easy being from an ethnic background and receiving this much success. I’ve had to learn my craft through pain and joy, over time I fell deeply in love with it. There is nothing else I would rather do. I consider myself a survivor.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m proud that my hard work has been paying off, building my way towards the top. I am on the cusp of greatness. I know I’m not supposed to be here, I’m very blessed to be alive and to be doing what I love. My upbringing, what I’ve seen in life, and what’s shaped me is why I keep succeeding. I’m mentored by Ed Harris, Steve Tietsort, Dan Feild, Eric Gutierrez, and my parents. These special people know what I am capable of and are supporting me on my journey. My parents and my little brother Kenny are my soul. I’m doing this to have a better life for them. I’m paving the road for my people in this industry so they know this is possible. I look forward to the day when I’m the lead in films, working with the best directors, actors, and most importantly taking care of my family. I am living my dream.
What makes you happy?
My Craft. I find solidarity in what I do. When I’m not in it, I’m lost.
