Check Out Eshani Music’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eshani Music.

Hi Eshani, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started singing when I was 13 years old. Started doing covers and performing at talent shows and school and university competitions in Dubai since that’s where I grew up. In 2016 however, I started writing my own songs and released my first single called “Hazy” followed by “Babycakes” produced by Rayan Bailouni which hit a total of 87k views on Youtube, both of which got aired live on one of the biggest radio stations in Dubai called Virgin Radio Dxb.

As time passed I started writing more songs which lead to me releasing an album of 9 songs in 2018 called “W.O.H.(Why Own Her) in Dubai and these songs did fairly well on various platforms in the Middle-east. I had multiple opportunities to perform live and one of the biggest stages I performed on was at the Dubai Jazz Festival I opened for Duran Duran and performed my single “Babycakes” on the same stage as John Legend, Alicia Keys, Ricky Martin, etc. It was an exhilarating experience. Moreover, I collaborated on a single called “Insanity” with another artist from Dubai named Mangal Suvarnan, and this single got signed to an EDM record label called Armada Music which was aired live thrice by Armin Van Buuren himself on ASOT live. Furthermore, I decided to make my move further and moved to Los Angeles towards the end of 2018 and started studying music at Musicians Institute and I released a single called “Better Than You” with a team of amazing talents and friends with a music video which got released on my official VEVO channel thanks to Preach Management.

I am currently working with an LA-based management company called Preach Management as well. The pandemic took a toll on a lot of people. However, all we can do is keep working on our art. I started writing my own songs again as I headed back to Dubai in 2021 and released more music. I now go by “Not Your Typical Brown Girl” which was the name of my first single in 2021 produced by Rayan Bailouni and ever since have released a few more singles called “Psych Anxiety”, “Pretty Face”, “Queen Shi_” and “Priceless” which did really well on Tik Tok and Spotify. I then made my move to Bangalore, India to explore my roots and collaborated on a single called “Urmila” with a local rapper named Rahul Ditto and the song hit 2.4 million views on Youtube. I got verified on Instagram thanks to Preach and I am now currently working on releasing more music in India, the US, Dubai, and worldwide. I just released my recent on 11/11 called “ F#CK LOVE” which is a statement about what this gens idea is about “love” which is taken for granted these days. I’ve written this single from a rebellious point of view. “Men ain’t sh*t”.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There have been a lot of challenges. I struggled with my health for a very long time between 2016 and now. I lost a lot of people along the way, I stayed in places that were unhygienic in order to make my dreams come true, I caught the first wave of Covid, and honestly, everything was a nightmare. There are always ups and downs in every or aspect of your life throughout your journey. I realized later that I was clinically diagnosed with depression and anxiety as well which made it hard to motivate myself along the way.

You can’t always be understood by people and as an individual, our struggles create who we are and help us create more art and to express ourselves in the best ways we can as artists. I lost family members due to covid as well which wasn’t easy. I was told NO a lot and I am still told NO to a lot. I have faced racism in the industry, being objectified, etc. It isn’t easy and it still isn’t. You have to be ready to accept your flaws, decisions, the NOs and so much more. It takes a toll on you in every aspect.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an RnB/Trap/Hip Hop Artist/Songwriter and Performer with cultural influences. I go by “I Don’t Fit a Culture; I Am The Culture”. I specialize in being a singer and performer for sure and I’d like to think I am known for my unique style of singing, performing, and fashion when it comes to performing live. I am honestly so proud of so many things in life but the one thing I am the proudest of is having the gift of music and being able to perform live on stages like the Jazz Music Festival and also just really making a difference with my music in people’s lives.

I believe what sets me apart is my ability to write a song that is unique to my culture whilst engulfing bits and pieces of other cultures as well into my music and my voice.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I think the best way for people who want to work with me and collaborate and support me would be to definitely follow me on all of my social media platforms @eshanimusic and email me at [email protected].

This would be a great way to also create a community of people that share the same taste in music or create something completely unique and different which sets us apart but also brings us together.
