Check Out Cindy Green’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Green.

Hi Cindy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I took a photography class in college and before I knew I was taking my camera everywhere, I went. I loved being able to capture memories, little pieces of life that I could always look back and remember. I started to post images on social media and people would randomly ask me if I could do shoots for them. One day a friend asked me if I capture a few photos of her wedding day, I took on the task, it was a small wedding which is why I said yes in the first place. I loved how the images turned out, I was just hoping my friend would love them too. SHE DID! Then something sparked in me, maybe I can be a wedding photographer. People began to be drawn to my work more and more. The compliment I would hear again and again was ‘Cindy you can really see the love in your images, hence why I decided to brand myself as Cindy Green Love Photo, and before I knew it I was a full-time wedding photographer. I did weddings for about five years straight but when I became a mama of two, I realized I had to shift. Giving up all my weekends wasn’t working for the life I wanted now as a mama of two. One day someone reached out to me for branding photos. To be honest, I didn’t know what the client was referring to, I did a little google research and I was surprised to find out there was a new way businesses were marketing themselves and branded images were a thing. So I went for it and booked the session.

However, the night before my client informed me that she didn’t know if she could show up to the session, she was nervous and this was way out of her comfort zone. I asked her to just show up and that we would just take it step by step. I assured her that it was my job to create an environment where she felt safe, if at any moment she wanted to stop we would. So, photoshoot day came, I could see the apprehension in her. I told her if we could just start with three photos, and she agreed. I can see her body was tense and I could tell she felt awkward. So, I asked her to take a few breaths with me, I complimented her on how beautiful she looked, and I looked her in the eyes and said, “I am right here and we are going to do this together, it’s my job to make you feel comfortable, so the pressure is off, just let me guide you.” So I did, I posed her, I brought energy to my direction, I smiled, I complimented her and little by little, she began to blossom infront of the camera. Right, there and there, I caught myself empowering her and at the same time, I felt empowered myself. When the shoot was over, she kept telling me how amazing she felt, I felt amazing as well. I sent her over the images, and she couldn’t believe the was she looked in her photos. After this whole experience, I realized I wanted to this, I wanted to empower female entrepreneurs infront of the camera, create images that were not only transformative for their business but for themselves. I fell in love with the process and haven’t looked back since.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nope, the journey has not been smooth. I have had to overcome imposter syndrome. I had to come to terms that I was a great photographer, I had to embrace it and live it. Also, because of the pandemic, I was not able to do weddings for a period of time which allowed me to focus into transitioning my business into branding photography was well. I am grateful that it was a time to re-evaluate my vision as a photographer.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
