Check out Memo Ortega’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Memo Ortega.

Memo, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
My name is Guillermo Memo Ortega and I take pictures, I was born in the city of Mexico, Federal District, a very rich city in arts, history and multicultural. At the age of 15 years, I moved to California, it was love at first sight. One of the realities or reason why I start taking pictures was a direct form of expression, a way to show how I look at the world, especially California and Los Angeles culture.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My photography is based on everyday life, from the homies in the streets to the stage with wutang, I have never claimed a style I believe that by doing it yourself you close many doors and put a stop to your imagination. I like to show my culture in a fun way a different way in which the viewers want to know more about it. My only inspiration growing was music, album covers, graffiti, for me to be able to share a piece of art on every photo was amazing page by page oh every photo/art in an album cover. My photographs today you could say are a bit more artistic mixing the subject with the background to create a stronger image with a little more history. I hope people will be inspired and take more pictures.

How can artists connect with other artists?
Fortunately, my type of art always involves more than one person, but it is true that artists spend a lot of time alone. Only an artist who does not know how to enjoy his own company, I think he will never be able to discover his abilities. Focus on your goals and be ready for changes.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
