Check out Apache Don’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Apache Don.

Apache , we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Yooooo!!!! Where do I even start? I guess it would have to be, listening to 60’s and 70’s Soul music ALL THE TIME because my Dad would not let us listen to ANYTHING else lol.

That’s where music started for me. It continued and developed into being apart of a classically trained orchestra from 4th to 11th grade. That got me into Hamilton on a music scholarship and then by the end of Highschool, I was introduced to rap.

I was brought into Hip Hop/ Rap/ Poetic Expression by way of Drake’s debut mixtape/ album “So Far Gone”. From there I was introduced to the likes of, Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, Kanye West, Eminem, Jay-Z, Kid Cudi, and the list goes on.

Music really helped me by providing me with tools to overcome the adversities of being an inner city youth trying to survive an abusive household. Music then lead me to Church where I was trained to become the Choir Director. I held that position for a few years and then gravitated away, for personal reasons.

Currently, music is my most confident form of expression. My most recent project, “Journey to You”, can be found everywhere music can be streamed.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am an artist in every sense of the word. I am always looking for the deeper meaning, I can’t help it lol I’m just wired that way.

In terms of what my artistry consists of, I am a photographer, cinematographer, art curator, host, novice musician, emcee, songwriter, painter etc.

Primarily, I make music. I write songs to help me decompress. I don’t have a method to how I write them. I just write what I feel down and that’s that.

I want the songs I create to showcase my growth. I want to leave a tangible trail of my adaptation, to life, as it comes my way.

The “take away” from my work is whatever you got from it. I’m sure that will be different for everyone.

What you should know about my artwork is that it’s mine and it’s me.

The sterotype of a starving artist scares away many potentially talented artists from pursuing art – any advice or thoughts about how to deal with the financial concerns an aspiring artist might be concerned about?
I am still figuring those challenges out. At the moment, my 9 to 5 supplies me with the finances I need to move my dream further along.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
People can find my music on Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music, Sound Cloud, and the list goes on.

They can support by streaming, downloading, buying, and sharing my work.

On the major streaming platforms, my project will be found by typing in “Journey to You”.

On Sound Cloud, my music is found by typing in ‘Apache Don Music’.
