Check out Alex Zablotsky’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Zablotsky.

Alex, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I was born in Soviet Union to an artist father and a librarian mother. Moved here at the age of 11. Grew up on the “mean” streets of Hollywood, got into trouble and played in various punk bands (still do) I got my first job in animation painting backgrounds at the age of 21 on “Rugrats in Paris” movie, then as Lead Artist for Tim and Eric and on and on! At the same time making art for bands and being active in LA music scene.

Right now, I am working as a background and development artist on “Cosmos”, a show stylist on “American Dad!” and also a freelance poster artist -as well as playing music with Yeghikian and Old Man Markley.

Short and to the point.

The client list includes such bands as Alice in Chains, KISS, Ministry, Scars on Broadway, Social Distortion, Gogol Bordello, Frank Turner, Old Man Markley, Angel City Outcasts, Port O’Brien, Juliette and the Licks, Against Me!, The Devil Makes Three and Youth Brigade – and films and TV shows: “Rugrats in Paris”, “Rugrats Go Wild”, “The Wild Thornberrys”, “Tortoise and the Hare”, “Three Little Pigs”, “The Simpsons Movie”, and “Tom Goes to the Mayor”, “Family Guy”, “American Dad”, “Goliath”, “NCIS”, “Cosmos”.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I work as a development artist on Cosmos: Possible Words and it’s the most rewarding job to date. Unfortunately, I can’t share anything just yet! American Dad is my second love- I art style the show and have been on it for 9 years! My mistress however, is music and making art for bands and artists. I started playing punk music in Angel City Outcasts, Youth Brigade and Old Man Markley since an early age and everything was DIY back then. Slowly it escalated to more artists wanting artwork. It took me a few years to develop about 3 styles that I work in. Everything was sub-culture, including alternate movie poster art scene I got involved with. When I have a free minute – I make a band or a movie poster!

Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
Depending on the kind of artist you’d like to be. I think the biggest one is figuring out exactly that.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
