Art & Life with Natasha Halimi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Halimi.

Natasha, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Ever since I was a kid myself, I loved babies! I was that 5-year-old who would beg to babysit and thought changing a diaper was actually something I was lucky to get to do. Yes, I know, lucky the adults around me who were having babies. I guess you could also say I grew to have a love for life itself & all things love. By my teenage years, I was buying cameras for fun so that I could capture the happy times in my family. I started taking photography classes in high school and was nicknamed ‘paparazzi’ by my friends who secretly loved my obsession with capturing life, because, hey, who doesn’t love free photo shoots! I worked as a pre-school teacher while studying Psychology & Child Development in college. That’s when my students’ moms, who knew I loved taking pictures, asked me to photograph their families. Before I knew it, I was building a portfolio, designing my own website and passionately capturing people’s happy times… & here we are now!

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I capture love. Why? Because, to me, it’s the most beautiful part of life. I get to photograph people in their happy places with their loved ones. What’s better than that?! When people see my artwork, I can only hope that they feel grateful to be alive. Let’s celebrate life!

Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?
Hmm… Great question. I would say to create a vision, set goals (that make both your artistic soul & your bank account happy), and hold yourself accountable. We can do anything we want with some hard work & passion for the art we make!

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I’m all over!
