Today we’d like to introduce you to Bo Bridges.
Bo, who has been shooting for over 20 years, has been dubbed by Elite Daily as the “World’s Most Badass Photographer,” and ESPN has touted his portfolio as a “pyramid wall filled with iconic pieces of history.”
He is best known for capturing some of the most difficult action shots in the industry including movie posters for the Mission Impossible franchise that had him hanging out of an airplane with Tom Cruise at 180mph, shots of big wave surfers like Laird Hamilton, Garrett McNamara, and Kai Lenny riding the biggest waves of their lives and shark attack reenactments for Discovery Channel’s Shark Week. Now, Bridges is honored to be the first artist to partner with Marvel to create photo-real artwork that takes Marvel heroes off the pages of comic books and into our real world.
Instead of swinging throughout the streets of New York on the 2D comic book page, Bridges captures Marvel characters in real-world environments from a true photographer lens, with all the depth and dimension of the surroundings to match that of the Marvel characters.
His first collection with Marvel, Hidden Heroes, will feature Marvel’s iconic characters hidden within Bridges’ breathtaking photos.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I started my photo career in 1995 when I first got my pilots license. I was banking the plan and shooting over my shoulder for various companies. Fast forward to my first art gallery which I opened in 2006. I began taking more landscape type images when I was on these exotic locations with some of my clients. I called them Playgrounds. Our Gallery is located in Manhattan Beach, CA. We offer custom fine art limited edition prints in all sizes. We also print custom surfboards, skateboards, and skis/snowboards. I try to keep the images simple but let your mind drift away into space.
I’m honored when someone purchases one of our pieces but I’m also yearning to go back out and keep shooting new work. Beyond the art gallery, I also spend many of my days shooting various national ad campaigns with some of the biggest athletes and celebrities in the world. If you want something that is unique and custom fitted to your home/office or exterior structure find us at the gallery or online:: www.bobridges.com
How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
As an artist, I find it difficult to keep up in a fast pace world especially since I’m overseeing a fine art gallery, photography and video production. But what I’m most proud of is the fact that I am doing what I love and enjoying my family time!
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
We do various events at the gallery throughout the year. Please sign up for our email newsletter we send out about once a month at bobridgesgallery.com.
We will be launching our Marvel exhibit on Sept 22nd, 2018 at the Manhattan Beach gallery.
